What are the "good" effects and in what cases do they occur?

What are its short-term effects?
Short-term effects of marijuana include problems with memory and learning, distorted perception (sights, sounds, time, touch), trouble with thinking and problem solving, loss of motor coordination, increased heart rate, and anxiety. These effects are even greater when other drugs are mixed with marijuana.A user may also experience dry mouth and throat.
What are its long-term effects?
Marijuana smoke contains some of the same cancer-causing compounds as tobacco, sometimes in higher concentrations.Studies show that someone who smokes five joints per week may be taking in as many cancer-causing chemicals as someone who smokes a full pack of cigarettes every day.

I'm not one to diss recreational use, the only problem with erb is that it literally makes you not want to do anything. I could imagine society if everyone was a stoner, it would take 5 years to get anything done. Just like the OP states, it kinda makes you absent minded.

I thorougly enjoyed being a toker, but weed makes you just think about the now, not the later. I kinda want those 10 years of my life back. I've been sober for almost a year, and I've gotten more done in this past year that I did in the 10 when I was a toker. I got a girlfriend, a job, a motorcycle, money, it's pretty cool. Instead of smoking dank and playing world of warcraft, I get laid and ride around on my bike.

Not to say I'd never smoke again, but I'd be worried about falling in to that slump that people get in to when they chief all the time. Weed itself isn't dangerous, it's the problems that stem from sitting around smoking 24/7 that is what i'd be worried about. You have zero motivation when you're stoned, and thats why it's so fun.

Marijuana is worse than cigarettes in the sence of the lungs. However the poisons and tars in cigarettes do make them technically worse. Let it be known, Marijuana is mentally addicting. No, There arent any physical dependencies but mind over matter? As long as you know where your Marijuana is coming from and your doing it responsibly and safe. There are not any real bad effects, you cant overdose and alcohol is very bad on the liver, marijuana doesnt disrupt any organ to that degree.

Most of the negative effects of Marijuana inhalation has now been solved by Vaporizers - which heat the plant to a temperature that vaporises the THC crystals but does not burn the plant - giving you almost 100% THC dosage without the harmful effects of burning plant material.

The most real bad effect is that it is genuinely 4x more harmful to your lungs to burn/smoke the plant as it is to burn/smoke tobacco. Thats a well proven fact on both sides of the debate.

Other documented bad effects are that depending on your dosage you can feel 'stoned'; ie. heavy, immobile, incapacitated, etc. Which can be hazardous when driving, etc. And can lead to an overall lack of enthusiasm and motivation.

With a very moderate dosage you can get some very positive benefits - kind of like your first beer (where after only 1 beer you begin to feel much more relaxed than you were). In this way THC is a worthwhile anti-depressant, but must be used moderately to truly achieve this.

There have been many, many tests conducted over the last 30 years to show that Marijuana does not have any long term dibilitating effects. That said, you can always fall victim to a pattern of self-inflicted addiction - some people spend their entire lives 'working for the weed'.

I myself use it as sparsely as I do alcohol for a good time every now and then - but most recently I used its anti-depressant effects by smoking very small amounts to get myself out of a clinical depression situation, after a family member's death. At time of print I havent had a smoke in 3 months.

And like any foreign substance - your body will build up immunity over long periods of frequent use, and will require increasingly more dosage to achieve equivalent area of effect.

The REAL bad effect of marijuana use is that it stunts psychological and emotional growth.

If you start smoking weed at 13, you're going to act and think like a 13 year old.

Look at some stoners, and you'll see for yourself. True fact (as my kids like to say)

Bad Effects: People who smoke a lot of marijuana seem relaxed, peaceful, stoned. They lack aggression and ambition. They live in the now, not anxious about the past or the future.

Most of the negative effects put out by the anti-drug crowd are nonsense. As a longtime user, however, I will say that short-term memory is pretty badly affected. It's also not good for your lungs. It is known to be good for glaucoma treatment, nausea from cancer therapies, pain management and for general goofiness.
BTW, jaygal really needs to get stoned.

There is only one documented "bad" effect of marijuana. Users in repressive countries tend to experience paranoia based upon the legitimate fear that law enforcement TERRORISTS will break into their homes in the middle of the night and arrest them...or shoot them, their children, and their pets.

Otherwise, the worst thing about marijuana is that it increases one's appetites for food, sex, and other forms of fun.

weed is addicting and it really dumbs you down. every person i know who has quit says that they never realized how smart they were and it amazes them how much quicker it is to learn and pick up on things.

sure, these effects don't sound life threatening, but you may not pick up on a new job quick enough and get fired. in the end it's really not worth it to smoke.

It apparently can trigger psychoses where there is a predisposition.

Also - I am an old fart. Some people I know who have smoked for decades appear to have real degradation of intellectual function, although that is purely anecdotal.

well this is coming for someone who has never
tried it for myself, but this is thought process to it.
weed, get's you high it's fun.

but i don't do it because i want someone to be my
friend because i am me, not because how funny
i am when i am high or the silly things i do.

i want them to like me because of who i am.

and you should try to be yourself.

you can not get addicted but you can get
emotionally hooked, just wanting it(friends tell me that.)

those are the only effects i can think of.
i'm not saying don't do it, cuz i've heard it's a fun
experience, and honestly you should never limit yourself.
but remember never over do it, then your just not you.
your the weed

be yourself not the weed :D
