I have ran against runners that do it in 15 minutes which i know is extremely fast. I just want to know what a good time for a training athlete is. I run it in about 25 minutes and getting faster, I have went from a 33 minute to a 27 minute to a 25 minute in the past months. I want to get it in 22 minutes my next race coming up in a couple weeks. Do you guys think thats possible. How good of a time are these

Depends how old you are. When I was 30 I could run about a 19 minute 5k. Last year at 48, I was quite happy with a little over a 25. It just depends on how much mileage and effort you want to put into it. If you really want to increase speed, do a lot more interval and fartlek training at either half and full miles or 3 to 6 minute intervals. If you do half miles, you should be able to do at least 6 at a 3 minute pace if you want to get down do a sub 22 5k.

Well, it's all relative. In my 30's, 20 minutes was great. In my 40's I was thrilled with 24. Now in my late 50's, just want to keep my heart rate up around 130 and keep my cardio health.

But your times are fine. 15 minutes for a 5K or 3 mile is wonderful. But 22 minutes is highly respectable.

I'm a girl and run it anywhere from 22 - 25 minutes. I know those are good times for girls. So a good time for you would probobly be like a 21 - 22. It also depends how old you are.

You can definitely break 22. Your weekly workout program should incorporate long runs, speed intervals (of distances 1/2 mile and up), and lactate threshold runs. Always alternate easy hard easy hard for your workouts.
