Not all Christians are Biblical literalists. The Unitarians and a number of other denominations don't teach literalism. Usually, literalism is found with the more evangelical Protestant denominations.

Having Just read the left behind series. I was amazed at how it depicts that the bible can be taken literally. I always thought that some of hte bible was literal and other parts where symbolic. But having talked to other i think that what you say is true and that it is only the "fundies" that take it literally.

Yes. Do you know why? Because if you took your bible literally, you'd listen to "judge not lest ye be judged" instead of judging every chance you get. If you took the bible literally, you wouldn't eat shelfish or wear clothing of multiple fibers, your women would have to remain silent in church, and you could sell your women to the highest bidder whenever you felt like it. If you took your bible literally, you'd accept that your god is a murdering, raping, thief since thats what the bible says he is.

Fundies twist the bible to mean other things than it actually does so that it fits with their personal fantasy of life, which is something different.

Take your bible literally... go on, do it. Live by what it actually teaches, instead of what you want it to say. The Christian god isn't a loving god. If you took the bible literally, you'd accept that.

If the Bible is not true and complete as it is, who gets to decide which parts are true and which are false? The Bible is either God's Word, written through men, or its a lie. Choose now. I stand with Jesus Christ.

Do I upload the call of "Blesssed" to her call once I communicate of this lady? No. it incredibly is not what this verse is approximately and there is incredibly no command right here from this lady to me or to every physique else. (DRB) Luk a million:40 six And Mary pronounced: My soul doth amplify the Lord. Luk a million:40 seven And my spirit hath had a good time in God my Saviour. Luk a million:40 8 because of the fact he hath regarded the humility of his handmaid: for behold from henceforth all generations shall call me blessed. Luk a million:40 9 because of the fact he it quite is powerful hath executed good stuff to me: and holy is his call. observe that Mary refers to God in reverent tones; she isn't His mom, she is the mum of Jesus the guy. She is giving reverence to God in this passage, pointing out that we are going to contemplate her to have been blessed my God to hold His toddler. She became into blessed, no question approximately it. She isn't making a declare to a call. She became into blessed to be chosen to hold the Christ toddler and to advance Him up as a toddler and into manhood. that would not make her particular or confer on her any call such as you used above or because of the fact the "mom of God". God would not have a mom; God created Mary, no longer any incorrect way around. I have no doubts that Mary, if she have been waiting to make sure what is going on, could be sickened via the fake idol prestige that some religions have placed her into; Mary KNEW that God is God and that basically God is worth of compliment! Mary became right into a sinner basically like something persons, lived as a sinner, died as a sinner, and is buried interior the floor someplace in this earth, basically like we are able to be. As she reported interior the verse above, "And my spirit hath had a good time in God my Saviour", she acknowledged that she mandatory saving, basically like something persons.

You can take the Commandments literally. If a killer go's to prison then a lier will go to Hell.

No Bible writer witnessed creation, therefore, I interpret it metaphorically. On the other hand , The Gospels were written by eye-witnesses, therefore, I interpret them LITERALLY.
