Not just Christians, but everyone, should be more environmentally minded. Our church has implemented some recycling programs and joins other churches for environmental clean-up days, but of course, more could be done.

Short of selling our vehicles and having a wind turbine in our back yards, we're doing what most people are doing.
Western culture is doing far more than eastern Europe and Russia. The waterways of India are cesspools, and rain forests are being decimated in S. America.
Maybe you could just be thankful that we have the choices on how to be good stewards of God's creation. The EPA Does a fair job of keeping things in check.
How 'bout the Muslim nations? The Hindus? The Buddhists?
Thank God for our Amish and Mennonite Communities.

I believe it is true that we are "stewards of the earth"
God created man to care for the animals and the earth and in return the earth and the animals would take care of man.
It's a basic principal of "give and take".
Christianity has deviated from that principal.
There is not very much "give and talke" in the Christianity of organized religion. It's more about "do it my way".
.....and that's where and why our environment has suffered.
It's all about you're wrong and I'm right.
Until people can be more secure in themselves the environment will be second.

Jesus would agree with you 100%
Jesus founded with his father Joseph the Nazarenes, at Nazara which means "city of truth" at the foot of the sacred Mt Carmel in Galillee.
See: http://one-faith-of-god.org/new_testament/apocrypha/nazarenes/nazarenes_0010.htm
Joseph was originally of noble Sadducee birth, but converted to the vegetarian Essene way of life with respect for all living creatures, the environment and the world.
Unfortunately, Paul of Tarsus and the Sadducee nobles that hated Jesus also considered animals, humans the world as something to be used up, to be exploited.
This has been the hallmark of christianity, the religion founded by Paul:
http://one-faith-of-god.org/new_testament/apocrypha/founders_christianity/founders_christianity_0010.htm
One day, Jesus probably hopes that people will re-awaken to his original and true message and cease following the destructive polluting and evil religion of Paul.

I believe most Christians are environmentally minded. If our environment was healthier, then we would be healthier, smarter & live longer lives & invent more environmental friendly inventions.
