Just wondering... because I have doubts about LimeWire being illegal. Is it really true that downloading from 'BearShare' is legal?

Argh! Not this question AGAIN!

A tool cannot be legal or illegal. It's how it's USED being legal or illegal.

If you use it for illegal acts such as to violate someone's copyright, it's illegal.

It depends on what you download. In about 99% of the cases, it's illegal because people are downloading music, games, copyrighted pictures, etc. Very few people are using Limewire and Bearshare to exchange Power Point presentations.

Limewire and Bearshare are P2P, so if one thing is illegal to download on Limewire, it's also illegal to download on Bearshare.

No files that you download from any file sharing applications are legal unless the artist made them part of the public domain which makes them free to download and distribute. All commercial music and movies and copy protected, and are illegal to download unless you own an original copy of the CD or movie.

Neither piece of software is illegal. If you were to download copyright content (such as as songs or movies) using that software, THAT would be illegal. The software itself has nothing to do with it - it's how you use it.
