i read things very often of how Christ brings salvation to all christians but flat out hates everyone else who is of different religion. i think people are just gulable. they are willing to believe any sort of BS that promises eternal life and happiness if you follow these guidelines that are set by crazy people who want others to follow something they believe...hints creating the bible. for all of this i just cant believe how captivated christians are. it really bothers me to see people wasting their lives on false idols while belittling everyone else who doesn't believe what they do all because of a stupid book. as you can oviously tell i am an athiest. i think god is a joke and the bible as well. i think if people just take the time to really consider the bibles words, they would realize its complete BS! heck, i realized this when i was about 13.
I just want to know what others think of this.

to people who think this is a rant...yes it is a rant. i placed this on yahoo answers for the purpose to hear what people who agree with me or people with a good answers regardless have to say, so don't criticize me for not sharing the same belief structure as you and don't put crap for answers.

Another thing... from hearing what other christians have to say on yahoo answers, people make it sound like Jesus hates non - believers.

I agree. I think that some people turn to religion because they want to believe that they are more than just a simple human being, an animal like any other on this planet. They want to believe that there is something after their miserable life. Ironically many people spend a great deal of time worrying about their afterlife when they could be trying to improve their life. The major world religions came about because a few people discovered that many people had these feelings, and they could be used to control people. Then it got out of hand and religious people have been killing each other for 2500 years.

There are also many people who were brainwashed as children to be religious, and lack the will and strength to question their belief system now. Congratulations to you for figuring out that religion is mind control and moving above it.

Wow, you obviously have one side of the arguement covered. I would suggest you maybe give the opposite side a balanced chance? Maybe read a little bit of the Bible so you could give examples of what exactly it is that you think is BS. As a Christian, I wholeheartedly believe in the Bible, but at the same time I see where you're coming from because it's something that I've struggled with before. I did a lot of research though, trying to look at it from both the Christian viewpoint and the secular viewpoint, and I honestly feel that believing the Bible is true is the more reasonable option. I don't think you have to be gullible to accept it.
I would suggest maybe reading "The Case for Faith" by Lee Strobel; it tries to look at issues like this from a balanced perspective. And I have to say, definitely read the Bible, maybe the book of Matthew? It would give you a much better idea of Jesus (he doesn't actually "flat out hate everyone who is of different religion"). I hope you find answers :)

God doesn't hate people of different religions, you are pulling that out of your ***. As a matter of fact, every true Christian came from a different religion or was agnostic at one time (think of the time of birth). That is why people must be "born again". God only hates the lies and demonic influence of other religions. That is why there is no salvation in these religions.

Jesus loves everyone, regardless of religion. I believe that Jesus wants everyone to live a good life and live out their faith as best they can. In the end, Jesus wants everyone to attain salvation through him.

"I have OTHER sheep, which are not of this fold; I must bring them also, and they will hear My voice; and they will become one flock with one shepherd." John 10:16

i think everyone needs to believe something - for me it's believing in christ...for you it's feeling smarter than believing in such things. both ideas make us feel good in our own way, but I think I'm more content with my decision since I'm not ranting about it on YaHoo answers.

You know everybody has the right to say what they want, but do you see me coming on here and attacking your beliefs (whatever they may or may not be)? I do NOT think its BS.

I think it's already very obvious that you THINK you understand something that which in reality, you DO NOT understand.

^^^
Ergo, what exactly did you understand? NOTHING! Think about it.
