I began voteing 25 years ago and have never been called for jury. Have only been in trouble twice and both were minor infractions.

No. I would like to though. I'm suprised I haven't. 22 years. My hubby is not a citizen and has been called twice. He's a legal resident from Australia. I don't know why either. Perhaps, I have but move to often to get the notice? Have you move a lot?

I was fortunate enough to serve on a jury about 10 years ago. I think everyone should have the opportunity at least once, You get a chance to see how our criminal justice system works. Of course we don't all get to see the O.J. Simpson trial but mine was interesting. One homeless guy hit another homeless guy with a wine bottle and he was charged with assault with a deadly weapon (can you believe it?) It really hurt the other guy, he had a pretty bad head wound. I was accepted on the jury and I was surprised because at the time I was working for a law enforcement agency. The trial only lasted 3 days and we found the guy guilty. Now as you know, you have no idea if the party has any previous charges or convictions. The guy was sentenced to a year in county jail with 3 years probation. The District Attorney's Assistant that handled the case stayed after the sentencing and talked to us. She told us the guy had prior convictions of attacking other homeless people. He had mental problems but wouldn't get help available to him. That part was interesting to me, it showed me how the system works. But it also shows that if we had let him go, we would have let a man back out on the street that goes around committing battery on other people. Oh well. I found it extremely interesting and wouldn't mind serving on a murder trial or even a grand jury.

jury duty is pulled from the voter rolls. any legal troubles dont increase your chances of having to go to serve. It happens to people, mostly randomly. (I say, mostly). some do get picked more than others. (Again, mostly randomly)

It usually involves sitting in a waiting room for a couple of hours waiting to be called. My advice, bring a book or an ipod. Once you're dismissed from the jury "pool". You can go on your merry way.

There are tactics one can use to get out of jury duty. I dont reccomend using these, but they do work.

"Say, does my demonic spirit that lives inside me also get a vote? And can i get double pay for him/her?

Wear a shirt that says, "Theyre all guilty".
complement the judge on his/her black dress.

Scream at the prosecutor, "You did it, youre the murderers". When he/she looks at you. Just say "Sorry, just getting ready for court".

Or say, the defendants innocent. 'The person he shot was the antichrist".

Now i wouldnt reccomend using any or all of these, but they have worked for others. and lawyers have been to dismiss potential jurors on these antics alone.

What needs to happen is, they need to select juries with people who have been in trouble before, then you wouldnt have horrible things happen to good people like that guy who got 10 yrs in prison because he was 17 and his girlfreind was 15. Remember what jesus said. By leaning towards forgiveness you improve the world.. Its not up to punish people, but to protect our selves and fellow man.

I've been called up in TX and CA, but have gotten out of it.

Never been in trouble except for traffic violations. My husband has no traffic violations and is not a registered voter (didn't register to avoid jury duty), but got called up in CA.

I have been called 5 times and I am only 24. I just literally finished up a case of Intoxication Manslaughter and Assault today.

I got a postcard in the mail once. It said to call first and I wasn't needed that day. I would really love the experience. None of my friends have wanted to serve and they have all been called into service.

I got summoned for jury duty. I report in two weeks. I don't really want to do it, but I really don't have a choice.
