I'm interested in buying a 2005 pontiac sunfire with 27k miles from an R-title (wrecked) dealer. The price he has posted on the car is 8999, but other dealerships are selling the same car that is a clean title for the same price. What's a reasonable asking price for this. Would $7500 be too much? I figured since its r-titled the price should be lower. I also noticed the tires need replaced. If anyone has any advice that would be great!

I would suggest that you not buy this car. If other dealership are listing non-salvaged cars at the same price, what is drawing you towards this one? Wrecked are never a good idea. They have more problems, sometimes have trouble getting insurance, and are very very hard to resell. Get one without an accident. You may pay a bit more, but it will be worth it for you.

There are plenty of Sunfires that are going to cost you alot less without the r-title issue. I would not buy a car with an r-title unless it was a collector's car. $7500 is way too much in my book. Sounds like the dealer is trying to unload a lemon for way more than it's worth. A good set of tires is going to cost you at least $400 and who knows what else you might have to replace or repair if you buy this car. I just did a quick search on www.autotrader.com and found a 2005 with only 7600 miles for $5900 and that wan't even the cheapest one listed. Be persistent, be cautious and don't buy on impulse are some bits of advice. Good luck and happy driving!

My advice, find a car that is not a fixed up wrecked car..... bending a fram out and then into shape weakens it, and in a crash it could be the difference between living and dying..

it would have helped if you had said what kind of a car it was,i could have given a better answer on the value of it,i can tell you this,i use to fix a few rebuilt cars up and sell them ,and it go to the point to when you told people that it had been rebuilt, they wouldn't buy it,so i don't fix any of them anymore,i always tell people if you want to a good car don't buy one of them because no matter who does them they never drive right after their wrecked, you can find plenty of cars that haven't been damaged to buy ,good luck with this, hope it helps.
