Yes you are right.
The Koran has the same 'god'.
I do not understand anyone want to follow such a 'thing'.

Absolutely yes. You are 100% correct.
And any person who has actually read the Old Testament knows that any other answer is simply untrue.
+++How could the God of the Universe be so cruel and blood thirsty?+++
So the question then is how could the god of the Old Testament, the "jealous god", the "vengeful god" YHWH be so cruel and so petty?
How could a deity capable of creating all galaxies, all planets and all life seem at once to have such character faults?
+++What did Jesus think?+++
Jesus asked exactly the same questions and in fact provided specific answers.
Jesus founded the Nazarenes, also known as the gnostics.
http://one-faith-of-god.org/new_testament/apocrypha/nazarenes/nazarenes_0010.htm
Jesus believed the god of the old testament was not god, but satan, the ultimate deceiver pretending to be god.
This of course makes perfect sense, for any god that commands its followers to kill, has to be twisted and evil.
However, the Sadducee High Priests with Paul of Tarsus created the parasite religion called christianity to deceive even those who thought they follow Jesus.
http://one-faith-of-god.org/new_testament/apocrypha/founders_christianity/founders_christianity_0000.htm
So which god do you think the Vatican worships? The universe, or the "jealous god" of the Old Testament??

1) You are forgetting that these people were terribly cruel and evil people. They raped the women, sacrificed their children, let crime go unpunished, etc.
2) If you read what happens before their destructiion, you find good men who asked these cruel people to repent and do good. Some of these good men were tortured. There were constant reminders to do good and avoid even more moral decay but they were ignored.
3) Those that were saved were people with good kind and loving hearts. Apparently, there were very few god people.
4) Whether or not these are literal fact or archetypal symbols, they do "foreshadow" Perfect Justice. G0d, who is all just, saves those who desire to obey and do what is right and good. The wicked are punished for their actions. Now, the fact that wicked people are punished is not an act of evil against them. You should not get the notion that these people who are punished are screaming begging for mercy while being dragged into ie. Hell. That is not the case. A person who is punished shows no remorse and has freely chosen to avoid good and do evil unto others. If a person does not deserve the punishment, there is NO reason why one should be punished. If you dont deserve it, of course, God will not punish you for an act you did not commit! It would be unjust however, to let a person into eternal bliss if he or she does not deserve it. (ie. when a person gets a medal for something he/she didn't work for. That's unfair right?)

Where did God approve of slavery? Slavery is a choice made by man. He (God) tells the slave (Jews and Romans both had bond-servants) to honor his master; however, that is not a sanction of slavery.
God allows man to choose what he will do and unfortunately, man chooses evil more often than not.
If you are not following God, then you are following that which is not of God.
"No man can serve two masters; he will either hate the one and love the other; or else, hold to the one and despise the other / Ye cannot serve God and mammon."
Suffice to say that you and I would be at an impasse as neither of us could change the others' mind on this matter... I wish you blessings in your search for fulfillment.

Well apparently we are made in Gods image so we can't really throw sticks and stones when we have mass murdered far more innocents than God ever has and for far poxier reasons as I'm sure God had his.
I mean who would kill an innocent before it's born just because they can't be arsed to raise it and deal with the general inconvenience of being a parent.

My subject is, i'm homeless and that i now comprehend that what I counted directly to in all probability deliver me out of my subject isn't genuine, and that i will stay homeless, in and out of shelters. everywhere I turn, I hear christian say 'Pray approximately it,' or 'do no longer enable devil use you,' and it is consistent-yet those comparable Christians can't help me-they provide me issues they themselves does not desire-undesirable housing, spoiled nutrition, previous outfits, etc. I even have by no potential taken drugs, or offered them, by no potential prostituted my physique, or achieved something unlawful-yet i'm nevertheless residing this existence the place i think God has forsaken me. For the checklist, i replaced into molested and raped as a newborn, and neither my mom or my different kinfolk believed me. I even have tried to have faith God because of the fact i replaced into 9, yet this question that this guy asked is one that i desire solutions to, myself. i won't decide how different human beings's sin are explanation why youngsters could desire to go through, and what's worst is, while those freaks try this to harmless babies-they circulate to detention center, locate Jesus, get forgiveness, and that's it. What with regard to the infants they injury? What approximately that? I actually have a no longer difficulty-free time believing any God can enable for infants to be slighted, and turn around and forgive the folk who did it. i do no longer think of there's a God. could no longer be. it extremely is all I could desire to assert.

You really don't understand why God does what he does. Yes God has wipe out people who do not obey his laws. He is the creator. I would think he knows what is best. If he does not like something..who are we to argue? We are the created ones meaning we are below him. we are to follow him. I don't think he likes killing people....scratch that I know he doesn't want to kill people. Bottom line. There is a certain way we are to live. If we can't live the way he wants us to live then he has no use for us. He does kill off people at the first sign of trouble. He is a just kind and loving God. Some people do deserve death. Look at it like this.... you have a bottle of soda. What is the purpose of the bottle? It is to hold the soda in place. What do you do with the bottle when there is no more soda in it because there are holes in the bottle? You throw the bottle away. Same with God, you are the bottle of soda. If you have no more soda left because your full of holes then what good are you? He will throw you away. Like wise, he will try to plug your holes to keep the soda in but just maybe one day he will give up on filling the holes, let you run out of soda and throw you away. I don't know if you will understand that but if you don't then I just hope God doesn't throw you away.

In the Old Testament, God shows his holiness and his hatred for sin through dramatic acts. The point God is making about his character is that he is holy, separate, set apart from sin. The problem is that you interpret sin as no big deal. If you viewed sin like God views sin, you would see how horrible it is. Apart from this context, you judge god as cruel and vengeful.

Seems like this is the latest atheist fad. You are really talking about scriptures and events that you do not understand. Somehow you put your puny morality and sense of goodness against that of God? You are not making anyone question God's wisdom and love here. As a matter of fact, I wish you would experience it. Never-the-less, your vain attempts to belittle God only show the sympathetic or depraved condition your heart is in.

Would you say just like America was when we destroyed Japan, Hitler and other detestable actions against our country. God saw the defilement and detestable things those people did and He passed judgment on them. God is just.
If a Nazi or KKK member has children do you think they raise them with any different ideology than their own. God says He will wipe the earth of such vile people.

The old is law, and law is unforgiving and seems cruel. The new testament is forgiveness and grace through Jesus Christ. It's the 2 opposite ends. I don't think we would recognize grace and forgiveness without law. "the law was nailed to the cross"
