Ok first off I am very mad that people say that most people who are in the military are there because their lives are terrible and/or they are not very smart. Here what I am and are wondering what branch to join. I am coming into the military not for the money or to escape life. I am extremely smart and I could care less about the money, my family is financially independent. I want a job that will put my smarts to the test as well as my physical self, and I am really interested in ground combat. Is there a group like that like the navy seals or something where I could be of use?

I am really interested in the marines and I dont like air combat or sea combat like the airforce or regualar navy. It makes me feel trapped or that everyone has the same chance of survival no matter how muhc modivation they have. thats why I like either being in the marines or navy seals

Well - you're going in for all the right reasons and people like you who join the military end up ultimately much more successful than those who join to escape their problems. The Navy also has divers. If you are really intelligent - I suggest getting your bachelors degree first and going in as an officer because you can have more impact on policy and changing things for the better. I don't think the seals do alot of ground combat - it sounds to me like if you enjoy that ground combat thing - you're looking at the Marines. That is the most challenging branch and the one that will instill the most pride and reward you the most. The Marines will push you the hardest on every level and turn you into the kind of man you never dreamed you could be! Whatever you decide - go for it - you're going to be AWESOME!

Join the Marine Corps if you want combat. then put in for Force Recon. They do everything the Seals and Army Airborne (which includes Special Forces) do. If you want tanks they have tanks. If you want Amtracks they have those too. If you want to get into helicopters they have them as well. In the Marine Corps was the first to come up with the concept of Air Mobile. It was called Vertical envelopment. If you are thinking about aviation the Marine Corps has a whole air wing.
In fact each Fleet Marine Division has it's own Airwing for everything from combat support aircraft to large transport planes.
If you are interested in electronics the Marine Corps has lots of electronics jobs ranging all the way from missile fire control systems to aviation electronics.

Join the Navy! My brother is in the Navy. He works with the Navy Seals. He is not a Seal but he goes along with them ( what he does i don't know because he can't talk about it) but I do know that he trains very hard and the job is very challenging.

Every combat situations require a lot of strategy or intelligence. It just depends on how motivated you are in obtaining that high honor.
I suggest joining the army infantry or calvary. You can always advance from infantry into airborne/rangers/ than Special forces.
The army are the best ruck sackers, no doubt.

I would say join the Air Force or Navy, many jobs require high intelligence. Not to say that Army and Marines are dumber, But the Navy has Nuclear Power and the Air Force has many jets, but so does the Marines idk, I will say Navy

Some of these people are idiots. They claim people from certain branches are dumb or idiots, but ask them this...HAVE THEY BEEN IN ALL BRANCHES OF THE U.S. MILITARY TO KNOW WHICH ONE IS "DUMB OR STUPID?" I doubt it. My husband is a Marine and has been for 15 yrs. He loves it. He wouldn't trade it for the world. He actually chose to join the Marines because the Marine Corps Recruiter was the ONLY ONE that didn't try to get him to join the service by telling him about how much money he would get. He spoke to recruiters from the other branches and they all offered lots of money, so he took the one that was less concerned about saying how much money he would or wouldn't get, which was of course, The Marines!

The best way to be challenged physically and mentally is to go Marines. Plus, you will definitely see combat.
