We just bought a 97 Dodge Ram 1500. It has a V8 360cc engine and is a ext. cab. If you have one similar a yr. what kind of gas mileage do you get, I know I can calculate this but, I want to see how our truck does compared others of the same or similar year. Thank in advance for your input!

My 97 1500 extended cab with 360 gets average 14 MPG. This is with K & N air filter, high performance chip, and dual chamber flow master exhaust. There are many factors that can change the MPG on a truck. These are the three items I have that will affect MPG.

Yeah thats a good buy, more power and reliable than the rest with that hemi. haha the guy that first answered the question thinks toyota is something special....he needs to youtube the videos on toyotas frame.....dont think he'll be saying the same thing after that. But yeah I believe you have to reset your MPG gauge and then you should get 20 mpg. I have to do this with my Nissan altima.

my 4x4 with 3.54 differentials & automatic over drive gets 17.4 hi way 14.9 in town on 87 octane Gas. 15.2 & 13.3 running on 10% gasahol. I run 45 lb. air in the tires. gas milage has'nt changed in 156K miles. I put platinum spark plugs in at around 80K, milage actually droped slightly for a couple of years but has came back up since. same plugs still there cant explain it. maybe plugs need more gap than specified in manual
