Because they favor amnesty and they don't want to deport the illegals. There is no need to deport though. All we have to do is to crack down on the employers who hire illegal immigrants and start enforcing present laws. If they can't get jobs they will go home. Tom Tancredo and Mitt Romney both seem like good choices right now.

I'm very liberal, and I favor increasing the fines for those who employ illegal aliens - and much stricter enforcement of ALL the laws regarding immigration. There should also be a crackdown on identity theft. The current problem is not a left or right issue, in my view - as someone pointed out, the Republicans under Bush have not done squat to limit the flow of illegal aliens into the country, and I wouldn't give Bush amnesty, either.

Actually the only way to solve the illegal immigration problem is to uphold the laws we already have, give the border patrol agents the authority to do their jobs and fine heavily those caught hiring illegal workers. When the jobs are gone so will the illegals be gone.
Someone came with a catapult idea earlier, but I think it was just a little extreme, perhaps by the end of the summer we will think differently.
Enforce the LAWS already on the books.
Secure US Borders.
Build The Fence.
Cut ALL Social Services for ALL Illegal Aliens.
Operation Wet.back II. Eisenhower's plan was superb

You hit the nail right on the head. The liberal politicians want amnesty and ONLY amnesty. They know that the American people want our borders secure and they are trying to hold our security hostage so they can get their amnesty
Common sense tells you that securing the Borders has absolutely nothing to do with amnesty. Border security has nothing to do with what to do with the 20 million people that are here illegally.
Then why do the liberal politicians like Dianne Feinstein insist that we have to have a comprehensive plan in order to secure our borders? Because she thinks we are stupid and will believe her.
If they were really interested in stopping illegal immigration they would remove the magnets that bring them here. You want to get rid of the bees? remove the honey. Not one single so called "comprehensive plan has addressed removing the magnets like free education, free health care, food stamps, sanctuary cities, birthright citizenship, and all of the other look the other way policies. The only plan I have seen in any detail is how to make what is illegal legal.
The only thing a plan like that does is encourage more illegal immigration. That is what the liberal elite want.

You nailed it. They refuse to uphold whatever laws font matter at the momen they are considering breaking them. Nation of laws my aching behind.///the tax amnesty, amnesty for identity theft they tried to forge into this turd they called a bill turned me angry. Terrorists and law breakers of all ilks would have gotten a pass thanks to some seriously misguided votes by the likes of McCain and his ilk. He is toast. President ...of the local VFW maybe. Makes me feel like a complete fool for obeying the law and teching my kids history, science, civics, and to conform. Maybe they oughta just not pay their taxes, and live in the shadows.steal an identity or two, when arrested claim to be illegal and walk free. Happens all the time here in san Jose, Rob Davis and Chuck Reed prefer the illegals over the actual taxpeayers and have a policy of non enforcement of identity theft as well as a raft of other laws that you and I would be subject to. I am sellinmg my house and leaving the district to be rid of the stink of the corruption Ron Gonzales brought and remains to this day.

Honestly, it comes down to one thing....the death and rebirth of a new global nation. I'm not joking....if you view both parties legislation over the past 20 years or so, you'll see an ever growing trend to restructure the USA laws and rights based upon a world population, not as natural or migrated citizens, but to everyone in the world.
We give rights to people that are enforced by special interest and government groups, though the people hold no title to citizenship.
There are no more democrats or republicans, red or blue, only green for the money our politicians are bought and paid for daily by big business and other countries.
Welcome to the Great Mall of the World, once known as the United States of America.

Agreed, I myself am to the left of the political spectrum, let me affirm - we are just as upset, if not more at the incompetence Democrats (and Republicans - It's not only the liberals here) are showing, especially in the illegal immigration issue. We don't all want amnesty for illegals, in fact, most of us are vehemently opposed to it. You can't tack this all on liberals though, you don't mention, your boy Bush is going right along with amnesty-givers. For it to be a victory for "we the people," why is it being crammed down our throat so hard? The vast, vast majority of Americans, to the left and right are strongly opposed. In the end, this is good for business. One corporation, one vote (or as many as you can buy!) in the legislature.

Last year the Senate passed a much worse bill, SB2611, and it died in the House due to the heroic efforts of real conservatives willing to put their necks on the line against the corporate types in the GOP. This year, this watered-down version can't even make it out of the Senate, while enforcement is up (not in California yet though).
The tide is turning folks! Thanks to all who gave a d*mn about their country and held their politicians balls to the fire. This is the first step. Don't let the rest of the country look like the third-world cesspool of LA.

I am against amnesty as well. Both the right and the left tried to move heaven and earth to shove the bill down the throats of the American people. So need to watch them like a hawk in order to stop this train from leaving the station

Because that's what they want you to think , LaRaza is pushing this bill for amnesty for illegals .
They will settle for nothing less .
They are one of the largest lobbing groups in Washington DC , along with all the Corporations that want the cheap labor . Isn't it a shame that the Amnesty Bill didn't pass . Good for the Congressmen that voted no !!!!!
