How could men say what's wrong with themselves without knowing what's right?

Well, gee... I tried!
(Errrrr... If you get hurt or hurt someone, that's a sign - though *not* a sign from SkyDaddy.)

Yaabro, via Email: "You said you know what's right and wrong by what hurts you and others."

You LOVE to misrepresent others, huh? Where did I say I "know", pray tell? I said, very precisely, "It's a sign" - i.e. an indication, a hint, etc. ... There was no absolute as per your gross misrepresentation. And where did I imply "what's right"? (Seems crystal clear with stated "hurt" I was dealing with *what's wrong* - unless you're into S&M(?))

Yaabro: "So is going to the doctor wrong, doesn't that hurt people?"

The whole idea of going to doctors is to do the exact opposite of what you attempt to portray - to take away pain and suffering. Are you just being obtuse and obstinate or do you think the norm is to go to doctors for hurt. And sometimes when pain results from doctors you're bang-on - doctors get sued for pain resulting from a wide variety of poor practices causing pain. So, no, it's not wrong to go to a doctor, but if (s)he hurts you, it may well be "wrong".

Yaabro: "So is doing right what makes people feel good,"

You must have read someone else's post, as this is not a scenario I addressed at all.

Yaabro: "so does that mean that lying, which makes me feel great, doing the right thing?"

Well, *now* you're being credible - based on this email I can quite see you feeling good about lying. But *I* don't, so that's *your* problem, not mine - *you* deal with it. So is this just more misrepresentation and an ugly, abnormal scenario where you like being nasty? *I* didn't raise this at all, so why the Hell are you doing so with me?

Did you have a point of some sort, "Yaabro"?

Of course. People do it all the time with religion and many other ways.

Look at an obsessive compulsive person. (I am one.) That person can be completely and utterly convinced that somethign as seemingly silly as stepping on a crack or not touching every window pane in a room is something Very, Very Bad- on the same level as a Christian's sin. So, yes, a man can invent their own sin- even without knowing what's right and wrong.

Why and how do they do that? Some people just crave order, reason, and rules. If there's not enough for them, or if there's a void, they'll make them up for themselves.

I some times have a head ache but am not sure why or how it happens. But I am sure it is real!
Sin is missing the mark and it is not realitive to an invention but an action. The real question is how could men not know what is right if in the very acts they do wrong it makes them feel bad and fear that there is a consequence. We think just because we say we aren't sinners or I can live how I want with out accountabiltiy to no one there won't be a reckoning!

"Right" and "wrong" change often, for the most part. It was once acceptable to hang cattle thieves, own slaves, execute non-believers, and marry twelve-year-olds. For the most part, these are no longer acceptable behaviors. There are no "sins" which were considered absolute throughout the history of man. A little over three hundred years after the reported death of Jesus, war was fought in the name of Christianity. People were murdered, which was supposed to be a sin. Crosses are idols; I thought that is a sin. Several countries which actually have Christianity as the state religion are allowed to seize property for no reason. Isn't that coveting a neighbor's home? One sect of Christianity (Mormons) once found it acceptable to have multiple wives. Marriage or no marriage, if you sleep with another person, aren't you cheating on your wife? Isn't adultery a sin? The Church of England used to require that any marriage in Scotland be "sanctified" by an English Lord raping the wife on her wedding night. Isn't this "coveting thy neighbor's wife"? Any rational human being (and there werre some who stood by idly in order to gain land) would have known the girls in the Salem Witch Trials were "bearing false witness", but they looked the other way. These executions were allowed by the Church, and several prominent members knew the girls were lying. Christians stole the land from the Indians, Incans, and Mayans at will. Many countries allow one to become an emancipated minor. Does that "honor thy mother and father"? Isn't the Sabbath to be honored? Then why is it acceptable to work, play professional sports, or do whatever you want to on it? Why is using the name of god in a wrongful way allowed by law on television after ten at night? Why are any other gods but the Christian one allowed to be worshipped?

You see, all ten commandments, broken in acceptable fashion at one point in time or another. So, I ask you, is there any such thing as sin at all, or is it just a sin today and maybe not tomorrow?

Anyone with half a brain knows the difference between right and wrong. Men invent sin all the time, every time I start thinking I've seen it all someone thinks up something brand new with a whole new special twist on it.

Two things the bible says:
Rom 7:7 "What shall we say then? Is the law sin? God forbid. Howbeit, I had not known sin, except through the law: for I had not known coveting, except the law had said, Thou shalt not covet:"

and also:

Ecc 1:9 That which hath been is that which shall be; and that which hath been done is that which shall be done: and there is no new thing under the sun.

We cannot create sin because there is nothing new under the sun.

Perhaps conscience. Perhaps natural morality. Aren't men born with at least some innate morality? Doesn't good resonant with the strings of the heart?

Even Adam and Eve knew they were wrong to go against the will of God. I guess they knew what was right and wrong from talking with God.

All sins are invented by men out of prejudice, hatered and self ego.

Lucifer invented it.... the angel who became satan was first with the copyright. He taught men to sin. All sin needs is the knowledge of God as you say. Without knowledge of God's law... sin is not imputed (charged).

Men invented god and therefore they can definately make up rules as to what is or is not a sin.
