lordosis refers to the natural curvature of the spine, your neck vertebra no longer have the natural curve, this means that the bones of your neck are pressing in areas that are not normal and thus you have pain.

A normal, healthy neck has a small lordosis. In fact, all areas of the spine have curves that, together, help keep the body balanced.

The neck curve keeps the head from moving forward. A forward head posture has negative cosmetic effects. It can also be much more serious than that, limiting mobility, causing pain, and in extreme cases, causing paralysis or death.

To keep the normal curve in the neck all the cervical structures must be be strong.

The strength of the vertebrae supports the head on the neck.
Strong connective tissue resists the weight of the head as it tends to fall forward due to gravity.
The muscles in the back (especially in the back of the neck) also resist the weight of the head as it falls forward.

Definition of Cervical Kyphosis:
Cervical Kyphosis is a name given to the condition where the normal curve of the neck begins to straighten.

Causes of Cervical Kyphosis:
The wear and tear from degenerative disks weakens the vertebra whose job it is to hold up the head. Over time this causes the head position to move forward. This in turn causes the normal lordotic curve in the neck to be lost. The result is that the neck begins to straighten.
congential
traumatic injury, such as whiplash, compression fracture, or iatrogenic injury.
infection
systemic diseses

Detecting and Diagnosing Cervical Kyphosis:
Cervical kyphosis can be detected on an X-ray. (On an X-ray, it is easy to see if the neck bones line up in a straight or curved line). An X-ray will show:

disk degeneration
presence of arthritis
other problems
