A man, drunk hit a utility pole in my yard going roughly 40mph. He almost flipped, lost the contents of his truck on my lawn along with one of his tires and rim and then drove off. I called 911 and they arrested him. He blew a 1.5. My kids, 4&5, could have been in my yard playing.

His truck was not impounded and if he has insurance then he goes to court and get's his punishment. I'm not worried about the property..it's the kids. And the pole has to be replaced. I am angry!!!

Did you know in El Salvador if you get caught with a DUI they execute you by firearm on your first offence??

Yeah I was told that the first day of drivers ed. and it scared the crap out of me.

Now, I'm not saying we should do that in the U.S.! But I really think that our government is not at all harsh enough towards drunk drivers!!! People often see drunk driving as an excusible crime. Our roads would be much safer if people like that received harsher punishments. I personally think that the person should lose driving privlages for life. I think they do that in Italy actually.

I think you should go down to the court house during sentencing and ask the judge to speak to the drunk driver. I would remind him that he is lucky your children were not in the yard and he does not have the right to drive in that manner. It is a privilege to drive, not a right! I then would file a small claims for any property damage even if its only the lawn that was destroyed.

i became into tremendously much killed in a automobile twist of destiny brought about via a inebriated driving force who blew .20. He became into going approximately sixty 5-70mph in the previous he hit me on my door of my eclipse (he became into in a Toyota truck). He became into convicted of Intoxication attack (third degree legal in Texas) and became into sentence to 5 years, probated for 7 years AND the jury found that he used his vehicle as a perilous weapon. because of the fact of that, if he ever revoked his probation, the choose could desire to deliver him to penitentiary the place he could could desire to serve a minimum of a million/2 he sentence (2.5 years). As a sufferer, i assumed that this became into honest. He screwed up and that i think that the punishment extra healthful the crime. Now, I sat in on an ordeal the place a woman became into killed and the inebriated driving force that hit her basically have been given 5 years in penitentiary. IMHO, that wasn't adequate. on your subject, THANK GOD each thing became out ok. i could truthfully press costs against him for assets harm and make confident that the District lawyer is acquainted with that he doubtlessly endangered lives.
