Can I buy an Mig 25 if you contact some intelligence agencies or the manufacturer? Or possibly the Russian Air force? If your also willing to keep it in Russian (stored), Getting it into the U.S. might be to hard. Sound possible? Just for the record prob cost around $30 mil my guess.

It doesn't have to have guns, and missiles (if that would make it at all easier).

BTW I guess I don't have to register it with the FAA. Maybe easier to store it in Russia. I don't think they require any of that for permission to land.

So I'm guessing the first thing would be to contact the Russian Airforce.

My previous employer owned two Mig 17's and a Mig 21. All were bought for under 250,000. One has been restored and is now sitting in a Gulf Coast Museum, and the other two are flying well. Forget the missiles and weapons systems, you aren't getting them in the country. 2 of the aircraft were purchased in the Czech Republic, and the third from China. Procuring these aircraft is really not as hard as one might think, but the local Fed's put some HEAVY restrictions on how/ when/ where we could operate these things.

The MiG-21 is the latest version I have ever seen imported. Since the MiG-25 is still in service I don't think you will be able to get one. If you are a dictator in an oil rich or communist leaning country you can probably get 25 to 100 of them though. :)

Well, if the Russians wish to export them. A collector did buy a brand new MiG-23L, came complete with guns, and missiles. Had an "interesting" problem with Customs, ATF, and the FBI.
Negotiating the Byzantine Russian military equipment export laws is probably going to be your biggest challenge.
Most ex-Soviet military aircraft and vehicles in private hands in the US-and Western Europe, come from former Warsaw Pact countries. In your case, though, none flew the Foxbat. If relations continue to expand with Libya, that might be an option; or even Iraq if they get their act together

A. The Russians are still flying MiG-25's There's still a squadron of them based north of Vladisvostok (along with MiG-31's).

B. Why would you want suck a hunk of junk? The engines destroy themselves past Mach 2.8, they guzzle fuel like they have holes in the tanks, and can't manuver worth a damn.

C. If you're really set to throw money away, contact the Egyptians, Syrians, or Libyans. They flew them too. So did the Iraqis, but theirs are either destroyed, or full of dirt from having been buried.

I've seen ads for Mig's for sale. Not the 25, but 21s, 15s and 17s. So I'd imagine you could get a Mig 25 if you had the money.

The hard part is not getting it in the US, but buying it. If you buy it from the Air Force(and I seriously doubt you can), the best way to import it would be by pieces, so once it's here you can store it anywhere. Then contact FAA to ask for details on how to register aircraft, and make it flyable.

But I think your best bet would be to look for someone who already owns a Mig25, ask him how he got it, and if he could help, or even better, if he could sell his unit to you.

You have 30 million, but do not have people doing it for you...
A person with 30 million to spend on a toy is asking questions on Yahoo...
Yep, this is the place to get the right info how spend this kind of money.
Well, there are a lot of idiots and suckers here, but even they are laughing at you now.
By the way, it's easy to buy Russian air plains and even submarines. There are Russian companies specializing in selling them. Have your attorneys, assistants and advisers contact them.
------------------------------------
Contact the Russian Air Force? Sure. Just call 411 and ask for the number. Then call and say: "Hi, is this Russian Air Force? I'm extremely rich and guys on Yahoo told me to call you. I need a MIG 25. Sending it right away? Good. Thanks, Sargent, send it UPS to my home at the trailer park. Got to run, Jerry Springer is on."
------------------------------------
I'm amazed some people take this question seriously. And I love the answers like: "why would you buy it, the engines destroy themselves past Mach 2.8..."
Well, maybe he can somehow control himself and fly it at only Mach 2.7 ? It's good enough speed to fly... in his dreams.
