There are only 4 books written by Apostles:
Gospel of John, 1st Letter of John, 1st Letter of Peter and 2nd Letter of Peter.
Peter helped Mark write a gospel, which was used to wrote Matthew and Luke (who also wrote Acts). St Paul wrote a bunch of books. Jesus brothers wrote the letters of James and Jude. Polycarp wrote 2nd John and 3rd John, after he took over John's church. Hebrews has an unknown author, and John the Divine of Patmos wasn't an Apostle.
There's the 27 books of the NT, as accepted from the first Apostles and their bishops down through the centuries.
The 39 books of the OT are right from the Jewish TNK (Torah, prophets, writings) in Hebrew. Protestents didn't like all those Greek additions, so we went back to the Hebrew.
P.S. the Vatican didn't hide them-the Roman Catholic bible has 73, Orthodox has closer to 80.

Yes the book of Revelation was written by the same writer of the Gospel of John, who is the Apostle John. The fact that John’s other writings put so much emphasis on love does not mean that he could not have written the very forceful and dynamic Revelation. He and his brother James were the ones so filled with indignation against the Samaritans of a certain city that they wanted to call down fire from heaven. That is why they were given the surname “Boanerges,” or “Sons of Thunder.” (Mark 3:17; Luke 9:54) This divergence in style should cause no difficulty when we remember that in Revelation the subject matter is different. What John saw in these visions was unlike anything he had ever seen before. The outstanding harmony of the book with the rest of the prophetic Scriptures unquestionably proves it to be an authentic part of God’s inspired Word.

Any the book that suggested Jesus was not divine was left out. So much for a ethical Christianity. When will the Christian get God had nothing to do with the choosing of the books that went into the bible?

The only possible reason for anyone to desire 'more' books, is that they do not like the requirements of the books that are all in agrement.
If a person comes to accurate knowledge, he clearly sees that there are no more words required. The canon of the 66 books of the Bible form a complete cohesive message, which needs nothing more. It is in fact perfect, yet it does promise an opening of new (unwritten books as of now) until all the prophecy of the current collection is accomplished.

Hi,
You don't have to worry. The available 66 books are complete. It's enough for us, humans, to attain salvation. Let's read Isaiah 34:16,
"Seek ye out of the book of Jehovah, and read: no one of these shall be missing, none shall want her mate; for my mouth, it hath commanded, and his Spirit, it hath gathered them."
If we read 1 Corinthians 15:1-2,
"Now I make known unto you brethren, the gospel which I preached unto you, which also ye received, wherein also ye stand,
by which also ye are saved, if ye hold fast the word which I preached unto you, except ye believed in vain."
You see, The epistle written by Apostle Paul to the Corinthians containing the Gospel... if the Christians in Corinth would hold fast the word which the Apostle Paul preached unto them, they are saved.

The other gospels were left out because they were to magically oriented. And some did not paint Jesus in a perfect light.
