My friend said that that after earning his Master Mormon Mitt Romney went on to his 33rd or 32nd degree Mormon. Is there such thing as this? I can't find it on the LDS web site. This is kinda frustrating me. Any help would be great!

I tink you're getting Masons and Mormons confused.

Ha! He is talking about the Scottish Rite of Freemasonry. A Master Mason may choose to become a Scottish Rite or York Rite Mason (or both). In the Scottish Rite the degrees go up to 32. The 33rd is a Honorary degree bestowed upon Scottish Rite Masons usually based on their community/public service as well as service to the fraternity.

I think once you are a Mormon, you are Mormon.

There is no such thing as "degree" in Mormonism or "earning [a] Master Mormon". These terms are from Free Masonry, you should be able to find information on Wikipedia.

Don't think so. I believe you're thinking of the masonic lodge. My Dad was a 33rd degree mason, not a mormon. I don't know if Mitt Romney is/was a freemason or not.

He's confused with Freemasons. That goes up to 33 degrees. Boy, quite a leap from Freemasons to Mormons...rofl.

Naaaaah, there are not mormon degrees, lol. Maybe your friend was just playing a joke or something. If it was true, I wonder what degree of Mormon I would be. :)

Yes, it's Masonry but I think that the Mormon church was modeled after Masonry while they also took some Christian beliefs as well. With Masonry you just have to believe in God "G".
