I am trying to get up to 3 hours straight of mediation a day but I often get overwhelmed like I am using too much chakra or something or I just get really really tired.
Is there a way to increase the amount of chakra you have / can use perhaps?

As a Theravada Buddhist, the length of my meditation pratice is determined by me before the session begins. Although its length in time can vary, an hour per day for a lay Buddhist is considered enough, any longer and the benefits decline without training and guidance.

There is no reference to the Indian Chakras in Theravada Buddhist Meditation Practise. What is mentioned is the Jhanas or Levels of attainment. These levels are not focused upon however, the purpose of the practise is self examination rather than some sort of level achievement or score card if you will.

The reason for the practise at all is self examination and the calming of the Mind. Easing the Mind in this way is seen as a proper method of realising the falseness of 'Self' and examining ways of ridding this 'Self' arising in the consciousness thereby ridding its influence on our Actions. This then helps us to become more selfless in our interactions with others, allowing this selflessness to pervade and guide our consciousness and therefore guide the way we think and ridding our consciousness of the delusional way we normally think.

It would be a wrong view to Buddhists that we should simply go through the motions of Meditation Practise with no goal in mind other than to extend the period of time we practise with no real internal introspective examination or real change of mental thought or change in attitudes.

Over 24 years of practise hasn't extended my Practise to any more than an hour a day...perhaps you need to examine the purpose of your practise and what you hope to achieve. It may be that you are trying a Hindu method as they tend to focus on the Chakras...we Buddhists do not...I wish you luck....

Peace from a Theravada Buddhist....

When you can meditate well, a few minutes is just as or even more effective than hours. Occasionally, especially if you are fasting, you may be able to meditate for hours or days without dozing. Forget the chakra, you are getting off track.
