Sure, if you forget several thousand years of Aramaic idioms.
Kind of like getting mad at someone for not supplying you with a pet just because they said, "It's raining cats and dogs".
Fairly silly.

We don't have any reason to spiritualize the meaning of the story. Adam and Eve were in fact commanded to fill the earth (multiply- sexual reproduction). So, how could obeying God be a sin???
All trees were freely given to them to eat. Yet one tree was given that would give them a free choice to either obey or disobey God- and therefore the rule was given not to eat of that one tree. Had there not been a choice to obey- then there would truly never have been freedom.

Couldn't be farther from the truth. It was just as it says:
It was knowledge of good and bad or God's right to tell them what to do. Sex was a given it was a command to multiple and fill the earth. Satan wanted to rule and tell them what to do and he felt if he got them to rebell against God he would end up getting to tell them what to do. It was truly an act of rulership. Remember what he said to Jesus. All the governments I own and will give to you for an act of worship.
Would it be a test if he didn't really own it?
It is easy for a spirit person to make bodies and satan could make a snake body. Genesis 6 they made human bodies. Then he goes to the tree of knowledge and says "look I ate the fruit and I was a lowly snake and now I can talk. Just imagine what it will do for you?"
It was knowledge of good and bad or rulership.
Later she realized she was tricked and said, the snake tricked me, and so I ate.
They got exactly what they wanted to rule themselves.
God stepped back and said, now you can rule yourself.
It wasn't to make Adam's life hard, he was chaseing him from the tree of life so he wouldn't now live forever.
He told him if you eat from that tree you will die now he had to do it. That is when he began to grow old.
It was a prophecy, of what was to come.
Having a baby would have always been dificult but he wasn't talking about the actual having of the baby but womens role in the earth. Men have mistreated women so horriblely from the beginning of time. It was supose to be a loving arrangement where two people fell in love and was married.
Then it immediately became where a man took more than one wife think of the pain that would cause. They were sold to the man with the most money not the one they loved.
When they said engaged to be married but waiting it was waiting on them to start their period and then given to a man.
that meant before they were more than babies themselves.
they started using them for baby factorys.
When times changed Jesus made the light clearer and said a man can only have one wife. Realizeing the pain multiple wives caused the women.
As a foot note even a lot of the angels believed Satan it says a third of the angels left heaven to come to earth and live with these women. So God had to allow enough time to pass to show man does not have the ability to rule himself apart from God. We have had 6000 years of man's rule and as Dr. Phil would say, "how's it working for you?"

Um, God instructed all of his creations to be fruitful and multiply, thus he wanted them to have sex, and he wouldn't punish them for doing so.

You don't have to interpret it. It was the fruit of the tree of knowledge of good and evil.

God told them to procreate, therefore, the fruit didn't represent sex.
