We all have a possibility of being wrong.
Look at the Romans... for hundreds of years people died believing in all these gods that were not real.
i guess we wont know until we die. at that time we will know who was right and who was not.
I believe in Jesus and i believe that, is the real truth. even if i were to be wrong i don't think i would have wasted my time. i don't deny myself from freedom or experiences, i do whatever i feel is right and honest and i don't do things that are degrading and deceitful. if i weren't christian, i still wouldn't do drugs or steel, or murder people...
yes, that thought has crossed my mind but in my opinion that devotion is not totally unprovable.

Interesting Question.
Lets analyse the possible situations
1 - There is no god, but you have spent your life believing there is, you die and it is the end, you spent your life being good, and being good has it's rewards. Not so bad?
2 - There is no god, and you spent your life believing there wasn't you don't know you were right of course because if there is no god there is no after life and given you had no beliefs then you probably spent your time treating people badly or being selfish, fine if that's how you want to live? (Of course you don't have to be a believer to be a good person, just a generalisation i guess)
3 - There is a god, and you believed and were good, god lets you into heaven and you spend eternity in happiness. good outcome hey?
4 - There is a god, and you didn't believe and regardless of weather you were good or bad you go to hell and suffer forever!
So why believe in something you can't prove? Because if you do the worst that can happen is nothing, and the best is eternal happiness. If you don't then the best that can happen to you is nothing and the worst is well.... hell?

If we're wrong then we have been living our whole lives in a secluded state of delusional incorrectness . But even if we have been, we have lived and that is the thing we need to focus on here because that is the point of being here in the first place isn't it? So don't ask if we're wrong, ask if we are right.......................ask us a question that will mean something to the society besides giving them the doubt in their fragile minds that they have lived in the black and haven't been believing at all. They would suddenly think that they have so religion and that they have believed all these years in a religion that in not even real. Do you realize what that could do to a person who has dedicated their life to the Lord? Think about what you are asking us. Some of us may be christian, but that doesn't mean we are "wrong". Have you ever thought that maybe YOU are the one who is wrong for assuming the christian community to be wrong? There is more to this than just wrong and right and you should know that. Do not ignore my opinion, I say these word strait from my christian heart and I do not believe it to be "wrong" at all. I believe it to be right because it is my heart and our hearts are always leading us in the right direction. Follow yours and you'll see.

I am following a great and mighty God- And I am saved by the blood of Jesus Christ. Before I was a sinner who's lost and who didn't have direction in life (just like everyone else) BUT all that has changed because I received Jesus as my Lord and Savior. '
My life has never been better! I live for Him and do things to glorify Him (whether in my relationships, at work, in my community, etc.). To follow Jesus isn't blind devotion- I've seen the truth 'cause He is the Truth. Better to be devoted to God 'cause He gives purpose to my life.
Yes, I have 'denied' myself' when I accepted Jesus Christ 'cause I wanted to be saved and be His follower. I have given up those so called 'freedom' (as per the world's definition) but in fact, I am freer than ever.
Check Him out if you want to know how to live a fulfilling life of blessedness and be certain of eternal life.

I do not deny myself freedom, being a Christian. I have free will. Thank the lord. I choose to do good works. Where's the harm? I do not close off all other faiths. I research and study them and all opinions an religions. Faith by definition, is acceptance without proof. A feeling. My feelings and logic guide me. Jesus does not expect us to be anything but human. Thus the reason for his sacrifice. Read the old testament versus the new. Many Christians are so joyous regarding their relationship with the lord try to please God by further sacrifice to be free from sin of any form. Everyone sins. Whether it be pride, envy, murder, adultery, fornication, whatever the sin they are all sin. God asks us not to judge others, lest we be judged harshly. I seek peace. I do not feel that my relationship with my deity is any more or less important than anyone elses. I seek to know my creator better everyday. What ever that creators name may be. It's possible I'm wrong but I don't see the harm. I feel enriched by my relationship and fellowship of others.
Take care,
Jen

Ok. Let's look at your hypothetical. Let's say that, at the end of my life, I die, and there is absolutely nothing but....well....nothing...darkness. Then I lose nothing. I still lived a good life. However, on the contrary, let's say I live my life outside of God's commandments, and refuse to seek and know Him? At the end of my life, I die, and spend ETERNITY completely and totally removed from God, and suffering the "much weeping and gnashing of teeth" that it speaks about in God's word. That's eternity. Not 100 years....not 1000 years...not even a 1,000,000,000 years...but forever and ever. To me, it's a no brainer. That's the great thing about faith...believing in what you can't see. Jesus said, "You see me Thomas, and you believe. Blessed are those that do not see me, yet still believe".

Everyone risks this, not just Christians. If you adhere to any faith you're running the same risk. What if Atheism is wrong and Hinduism is right?
I think your question should be directed to more than just Christians.
But as a Christian, I wondered that when I first started contemplating my decision. Obviously if someone does choose to "follow Christ" (as is suggested by the name), it's not because they find the lifestyle a waste of time.

and just what makes you think there are other religions out there that could possibly be right. How can that be? How can 1 religion be right and all the others wrong.
THEY ARE ALL WRONG......PERIOD!!
The great thing is everyone can believe whatever they wish, at least in most places.
Show me proof and I will gladly believe! Faith is simply not enough.

Yes. Have you ever considered that we may be right, and you are enjoying the momentary pleasures of the moment, all the while forsaking you eternal destination? If Jesus did not raise from the dead to forgive my sins-I am screwed. I'm also willing to live with that consequence.
