I went to a therapist for a few weeks last spring. Every single time I talked about my current relationship she always brought up her ex husband and how she experienced the same things, if not worse. EVERY visit we went back and fourth. I hated it. She never talked me through my stress or problems. I mean if you are going to talk about yourself is this visit half off? She really just made feel like " wow we have something in common". That was not at all what I was going for. Shut up and listen to my problems lady! I hear that most therepist/counselors/psychologists and so on need their own so I guess I shouldn't be suprised.

YES! lol- though I didn't realize it at the time. I used to work in psych for some years too and when I first started I thought that the Doctors were Gods, then I realized behind the scenes they are like other people, maybe like the people they treat because they are attracted to that profession. In some cases it makes them better practitioners and in other cases it makes them creepy.
When I worked in Chemical Dependency treatment centers, some of the doctors were the biggest addicts. Still, in this imperfect world, ya gotta shop around because there are good people, artists in their field, in every type of profession or job. Some SHINE at what they do.

LOL. I think my last shrink just needed help with a makeover and some lessons in manners. She literally looked like a witch and everytime I saw her my mind drifted to 'Macbeth'. It seemed as if she hadnt brushed her hair in ages. And her office was so dirty that it could have given an OCD person a heart attack. I was beginning to feel OCD because I found it so disgusting.

Kind of. I had this school counselor who made me eat lunch once a week with these three girls who I didn't get along with, and they didn't like me. I tried to avoid it, but she would come track me down, and well it wasn't too fun for the least to say, but any other type counselor that I've had has been normal.

in easy terms daily. No, no longer for "being stupid" lots, yet yeah. In my case it fairly is a query of what i could have sufficient money, who i'm able to get get entry to to, etc. regionally...eh, it fairly is tousled. no longer something's funded fairly, so in case you ever drop out of the close by psychological well-being equipment, you're screwed on getting back in. yet yeah, the thought involves me a minimum of on a regular basis. a minimum of.

I've had a doc I respected tell me which ones on my insurance list not to go to. ( she went to school with them) Its best to get references from Doc you respect. I spent a few thousand on counselors for my daughter---She fed them crap, told me so. They glared at us her parents. To me I got results from a real psych Doc.
