Well i don't like them because i saw someone get attacked by one. It's not a pretty site. They don't want to let go of there prey sort of speak. There a very aggressive breed. Very unpredictable. Now i know some people will say that they get a bum rap. but you hear more pit bull attacks than any other breed.
Not one you want around little kids or small dogs. That is just my personal opinion.

When dealing with a pitbull you have to have a firm hand. It is never a good idea to get a pitbull just to show off. Im not saying you should beat the dog if it does something wrong but try using some training tips from Ceaser Milians tv show or website. Or look it up on google. As long as you keep your pet in check it wont get out of hand. Make sure it understands that your the boss and not the other way around. Pitbulls can be the sweetest dogs if their just trained correctly. Good Luck

I have had many dogs over the years and the APBT I have now is the most lovable of them all. Honey is four years old now and still acts like a big puppy. She loves everyone who comes to visit.
She gets along great with my other dogs, a little Chi/Terrier and a Beagle.
After all the bad media reports about Pits I was scared when my grandson came home with a APBT. But I now have learned that Pits are probably the greatest dog there is.
You don't have a thing to worry about. Just don't do anything to make it aggressive, don't chain it out, let it be a house dog. My dogs sleep with me.

I think if you got from a good breeder, and you're a good responsible pet owner, then everything should be fine. However, if either of those are not in place, then you could be looking to danger. Don't be scared, but just watch your back, and make sure you or your friends don't become one of the 3 people a year killed by a Pitbull.

I find it hard to believe that you were competent enough to even obtain a dog from wherever it is you obtained your pit bull. Apparently shelters in the Texas area do not have that rigorous of an adoption process. Actually, judging from your ATROCIOUS spelling, grammar and punctuation skills, you would probably be one to buy from backyard breeders.
For everyone out there who has ever posted anything negative about pit bulls or their owners, this person is PRIME EXAMPLE of EXACTLY how pit bull breeds get a bad reputation. It is NOT always the breed's fault: take a look at INGNORANT and UNEDUCATED owners!!!
It is APALLING that you are the owner of ANY dog, let alone a pit bull. How do you even train your dog when you have ZERO command of the English language? Unbelievable.

Pit bulls are very intelligent and athletic dogs. Given proper exercise, training, and medical care, they are probably the best dogs in the world. However, if they are abused, malnourished, or underexercised, they become aggressive, hyper, and sometimes dangerous. A pit bull that lashes out is strong enough to hurt a person and this gives them their bad reputation. It's undeserved, as this is the case with any dog, but it is the image. Anyway, as long as you are giving your dog the love, training, exercise, and care that it needs, it is not going to lash out. Introduce it to many people so they get the message that pit bulls can be wonderful, awesome pets. Good luck!

If your dog is bred for a good temperament, socialized well, and trained well, it should turn out like your friend's 3 year old. If not, then it could very well turn out like the 2 year old. Neutering may also play a roll in behavior. Un-neutered male dogs have a higher chance of becoming biters.

Pit bulls are wonderful pets. They are loving, caring, watchful animals. I'd say, be cautious of other people. Also, pit bulls were bred to fight. Remember that. They snap sometimes. With kindness, love, and companionship, your pit bull will probably be fine. Try to not rough house, and take the dog on daily, long exercises. This will tire him/her out. That's good! And it will keep away the urge to attack.

Pitbulls are constantly abused by a bad reputation; that aggression nature is bred into most pit breeds but depending on the handler can be altered. My neighbors have a pit mix that is as sweet as night and day - that oddly enough obeys me more than them. A collegue had two well trained pits that are fully obedient but he has professionally trained them; training is for both the person and dog, mind you. As long as your pit knows you're the alpha and that's an unquestioned position, you'll be safe. Some pits are aggressive and if the person cannot handle them are twice to ten times worse than most. The breed was abused and overbred into fighting dogs, but they like other dogs are gentle natured towards those whom they ally loyalty to.
