You have to be aware of the radio, tv and other advertisement and mass media diatribe on the dangers of smoking for the person who inhales as well as the person who sits silently by and receives the same or greater punishment and is not a smoker. In a nutshell, there is nothing 'cool' about smoking. There was a time that teens and college students first time away from home would find themselves in situations they would not normally be in because they wanted to be accepted, and look "cool" to their friends. Being an individual with your own mind and making your own decisions is much better than being a copycat.

No, it is not cool. It does not enhance your looks in any way, shape or form. Besides being a disgusting, expensive, stinky habit, the political climate is increasingly becoming one that is not friendly to smokers. Do you wanna be pushed to the back of the bus just because you smoke? In many USA states you can't smoke indoors in public places anymore.
More importantly year after year they discover serious health problems related to smoking. The tobacco industry literally gets away with killing 100,000+ people per year from cigarettes alone. Smoking also prematurely wrinkles the skin. Ewww, the list goes on an on. Don't start.
I doubt if you want your mouth tasting like an ashtray anyway. That's gross dude.

not really but the sad perception is YES. it's harmful and hazardous but it's NOT LEGAL ! it's perfectly legal and the whole world condones it. look at all the movies. I'm pretty sure 95%-99% of all the movies produced on EARTH glamorize smoking. but honestly, who cares about smoking? why even bother people to quit smoking? humans have been smoking for centuries and centuries and they will be smoking 500 years from now also. why not heckle OBESE people rather than smokers just like the movie Supersize Me suggested? the truth is that there's more FAT PEOPLE in America than smokers. but just because eating 7 meals a day is more acceptable than smoking, no one says anything. the government wants to ban smoking indoors and whatnot, but NO, they will never ban cigarettes since they need the MONEY !! the all mighty dollar... jeez, money rules the world... so whatever. who the hell cares? just smoke. smoking is nothing more than something that humans do. drinking coffee is supposed to be bad! why not ban coffee... ugh

I wish I could show you a picture of my sister. She's been smoking since she was a teenager. She's not even 40 yet and she's got wrinkles (smoking causes wrinkles), discolored teeth and perpetual bad breath not to mention that her hair and her clothes reek so much of cigs that no one wants to be around her at family events. Does that sound cool? Are you anxious to look like that? She is 6 years younger than me and she looks 10 years older than me. People are actually shocked to find out she's my "little" sister.
BTW, she thought smoking was very cool when she started. Now, she can't quit. She's tried the patch, cold turkey, hypnosis, nicotine gum, filters -- you name it. She'll probably be a smoker until the day she dies ... hooked up to an oxygen tank.

No, it may seem cool, but you put your life at risk by smoking.
You can get Lung Cancer, you can have breathing problems.
Plus its stupid too inhale smoke in your body when it can surely kill you:
Here are some other things that smoking can do to you, believe it or not:
* Hearing and vision loss
* Arthritis
* Chronic coughing, more phlegm (mucus) in your mouth and asthma
* Decrease in athletic performance. Think about it: you can't run as fast or jump as high if you can't breathe properly!
* Cancer of the mouth, gum disease, tooth decay, and yellow staining of the teeth
* Peptic ulcers, pancreatic cancer, bladder cancer, kidney and liver damage
* Heartburn
* Diarrhea
* Decreased circulation in the fingers and toes
* Yellowing of fingernails and toenails
* Bad breath
* Wrinkles
Yellow Teeth and wrinkles, that's not something you want to have.

Smoking is very very cool if you want to smell like a stinkin' ashtray, and you want to fill up your lungs with gunk and then get cancer and end up in the hospital hooked up to a bunch of tubes and then your hair falls out from the freakin' chemo and your relatives and family and friends are all crying because they know you will be dead soon.......uh-huh, that's pretty cool, isn't it??

depends on what you think is cool. I mean if you are the kinda person who wants to live in a grave soon, then sure. it's cool for you. personally, I'd like to keep my life, and I think that it is uncool. And VERY RUDE when people smoke around others. It's like really I don't want you to give me cancer just cause you are addicted to nicotine!

We all know that smoking is bad for us (Duh!). I mean the label on any cigarette package practically says "Smoking this product will kill you".
But the question is not "Is smoking dangerous?" but "Is smoking cool?"
OK, so you agree that killing yourself is very uncool, but some of us still think that it LOOKS cool to smoke.Now, in my other articles (YOU HAVE READ MY OTHER ARTICLES?) we figured that looking cool is different than being cool.
Quitting for the 39th Time
I just quit smoking.I remember the day I started so clearly, though it was 18 years ago (aaagh!). Kay Turner, the coolest girl at Youth Club was making friends with me, I felt so honored, and when she offered me that first cigarette (Consulate, Menthol - yuk!) - there was no way I was going to turn her down.
Continue....
Well, since BEING cool is what we're after here, I'm now gonna tell you why you can't smoke and be cool at the same time. (Like, there was once this American President who couldn't walk and chew gum at the same time - the same guy who had the butterfly tattooed on his butt...).
WHY SMOKING IS NOT COOL
BEING COOL AND LIVING ARE ONE AND THE SAME. A cool person wants to live life to its fullest. A cool person avoids stuff that will mess up his head or body OR cut his life short.
Sometimes we do things that adults call " challenging authority" or "being rebellious".
T he truth is, we're sick of this "you're just a kid" crap they keep shoving at us. We want to be seen as real people, like adults who are free to make their own decisions.
But THERE HAS GOT TO BE A BETTER WAY TO SAY, "HEY, I'M AN ADULT" THAN SMOKING.*
(*Note: The adult world is full of people who do a lot of stupid things, like smoking.)
Smoking is addictive (Duh!). DO YOU REALLY WANT TO BE A SLAVE TO SOME SMOKING BUTT or do you want to be in control of your life?
MOST GIRLS ARE NOT TURNED ON BY CIGARETTE BREATH. (Some of us guys think it's pretty gross, too.)
And then there's Mom... When (if) they (your parents) find out that you're smoking. Well, let's just say that the reaction I got when I came home with my purple hair and pierced ear is nothing compared to what's gonna go down now. Mostly it's 'cause parents can't stand to see their kids get hurt or do something that's dangerous. It has to do with maternal and paternal bonding, but it's really about love, like even if they piss you off, they still love you.
(NOTE: IF YOU'RE SMOKING, DOING DRUGS OR OTHER CRAP JUST TO HURT YOUR PARENTS, THEN YOU ARE IN TROUBLE AND HAD BETTER GET SOME SERIOUS HELP. THIS IS VERY UNCOOL)
So, if you want to LIVE, BE FREE, BE IN CONTROL, HAVE KISSABLE BREATH, and BE COOL, THEN YOU BETTER THINK TWICE BEFORE YOU LIGHT UP.

Not in the least.
Smoking killed my father before he turned 70. He could easily have lived into his eighties or nineties.
Both of my fathers-in-law smoked themselves to death before I ever met them or their daughters, and I saw both of my mothers-in-law smoke themselves to death.
If you are hell-bent on killing yourself, just take some poison or hang yourself or jump off a building and be done with it.

Have you ever seen a "cool" fire? Our bodies aren't chimneys and you can't get rid of the tobacco through your body like you can foods.
