I don`t have absolute proof. Someone claimed that they do drugs; might be lying. Do I need absolute proof first?

How would I get an anonymous tip to the police? 9-1-1 is for emergencies, so assuming thats not it..

Don't waste the police department's time unless you have proof. If the person is abusing someone as a result of the drug use, that's a different story.

The police have so much to do that they aren't interested in casual users. If you had information on drug peddlers with or without proof, they might be interested.

All police departments have non emergency telephone numbers or so-called business lines. However, these lines are also recorded and most now have enhanced 911, meaning they know who you are and where you are calling from.

If you have something to discuss and you don't want it recorded, simply go to the police station and ask to speak with an officer in private. Then you can ask his or her advice about what you level of concern should actually be.

You can actually call 911 and either ask for the Anonymous Tip Hot line or the Non-Emergency Number. It only takes a minute and the dispatchers don't mind.

It's called a tip for a reason, not absolute proof. They don't call it the absolute proof hot line. You can tell them. I was told this person was doing such n such. You might want to check that out.

They have Police Investigators for a reason.

Just as long as you aren't asking stupid stuff like what time it is and can you tell me my phone number.

Go to Google, type in crimestoppers and the name of your city/state/province. You should have no problems finding the number you need there. Crimestoppers is completely anonymous.
