Wow. That's just rude. Kudos to your husband on being a prick. Is he TRYING to alienate his daughter?

It's completely up to preference. I have my left side pierced, and I'm not a lesbian (nor am I left-handed. I got it pierced that side because I thought others had it the same way). However, that being said, I do have a lesbian friend who has her left side pierced, and many straight friends with their right side pierced. My advice is to tell dad to stop bugging her about it! Teasing someone about a sexual orientation (whether it's true or not), does do damage to a person's self esteem, especially when it's a father teasing his daughter about being gay when she's not.

Depending on how old your daughter is and what her relationship is with her father I'd advise her to let her father know that she can do without his teasing. It seems he could be more supportive and kinder to his daughter - he may not approve of her having a piercing and is doing this in a passive aggressive way. I'd also ask him what his source of this information is - how many lesbians does he know? If he knows any he'd know that every person is an individual and there's no 'club' with rules like where to position a piercing. Grow up, dad. Find something to compliment your daughter about and demonstrate how much you love her instead of trying to berate her.

I pierced my right side of my nose because it showed my best side" a preference". I am not gay but have been asked that question. I feel if your gay or not your not going to announce it on your face! If your child is gay you'll know it and love her the same.

OMG that's so stupid. First of all it's just a dumb thing to say and second of all I think I would punch my husband dead in the face for saying that to my daughter. Does it make him feel like a big man to degrade his daughter like that? You should tell him to shut up or put up because if he's making that kind of comments to her about something this dumb it's only gonna get worse if she ever does something really serious.

Um, no, not only lesbians get their noses pierced on the right side. That's the most idiotic thing I've ever heard.

I remember when it was said that gays pierced one ear; straights the other, but I could never remember which. It's about preference and some day she will probably get tired of it and take it out.

I don't know but I had a friend who was a lesbian and she had the right side of her nose pierced and a eyebrow piercing.
If she is secretly liking women, it is probably just a phase.
