So you are suppressing an "animal instinct" to conform to what you think "A-sexual" is socially acceptable or more civil? I'm confused but I feel confident in saying that can't be healthy! Above all else you are a human. That is above being a member in a society, above being a family member, above being an employee. We are given sexual urges for more reasons than procreation. I know men who didn't masturbate or have sex until their twenties for religious reasons. Now they are literally sex addicts who attend S.A.A. meetings. Huge porn collections too. Even if you don't turn into these people, what's to say you don't lose your libido entirely after a few years? You'll never satisfy a girlfriend for long in that case. Jeeze, so much more but I'm pretty sure you're not interested.
Good luck

People become emotionally involved and that's a HUGE factor.
Some folks REALLY want to have kids, and that's a factor.
It does feel really good.
In a strict context, religion tends to regulate sex, particularly Islam and Christianity but other religions as well. Both view various/most sex acts as deviant and so in many ways people believe that restraint from our natural tendencies is of a higher moral or ethical standing.
I suggest that it is in some ways, EXACTLY like eating, it is more biologically "correct" to eat appropriate amounts of food, too much and you become too heavy , too little and you starve to death. Eat the wrong stuff and you will become ill, eat the right stuff and you might get good Karma or better health or whatever (since vegan diets appear to be both Karmically and biologically correct).
So perhaps it's fair to say that learning to perform properly in bed is practically just as important than necessarily abstaining.
I would think that conforming or choosing to adhere to a social or religious tennet involving whatever practice would not endanger others or involve patently inappropriate behaviors (extreme violence, unwilling force, dangerous chemicals etc) is totally acceptable.
In the right context sex can be quite a spiritually deep and moving experience bordering on the transcendent, however, it can also just be an emotionless fluid exchange/muscle exersize or a frenzied, animalistically passionate and deep event that sucks both partners into an emotionally explosive and unified experience, with Freudian implications - even.
Lets just say there are some very good reasons.

I'm doing the same as You. It's not that important to me anymore. BUT some people JUST live for it. Sex can actually hurt you in the long run, Emotionally, Physically and Mentally.

its fun --- it makes babies (if you want one) --- some people (male and female) use it as a score ---- if you want to be asexual then go for it ---- the question that really comes to me is why??? and miss out on the interactions that you can have with like minded people?? --- its not only sex its affection love and so much more that is part of human sexuality --- best wishes

Sometimes kissing and hugging isn’t enough. It something special to give one other and show how much you really do love them. Its passionate, wild, fun and loving all at the same time.
