help! the last two batches of choc chip cookies I've make both turned out wrong. The taste really doughy, not like they're undercooked but more like bread rather than a cookie. They rise up and not out. So they also turn out more round than flat. What's going on, am I not measuring something right? Or forgetting something??

Did you put in too much flour? Also check your baking powder or soda and make sure it isn't old.

i could pass over the recipe returned. be certain you had each little thing the superb option. between the walnuts being in there, they're going to upload shape to the cookie, and a splash too lots baking soda would have brought about a miles better than envisioned cookie. Sugar cookies are fairly bland to start with. in case you probably did no longer placed any vanilla in there and clearly no longer any nutmeg, that would bring about a undesirable tasting cookie. Nutmeg would properly be subbed with cinnamon, allspice, cloves, etc.

sounds like maybe you used baking powder instead of baking soda; the soda tends to make things rise higher than the powder

baking soda or baking power is a rising agent.. Sounds like its old or the amount is wrong for your patch

Is your baking soda or powder (depending on your recipe) old? That stuff does not function as well once it becomes old.
