It's a little too young IMO. They can be friends, maybe go to an early movie but no significant time alone at all. They could literally ruin their lives and it's simply not necessary for them to have this "status" at their age. It's a tough situation, and you don't want to push too hard probably but explain things clearly to him so he knows the limits. It's not like you can spray anti-girlfriend stuff on her, but you can get his mind straight on the expectations and limits on their behavior.

ya. I'm 13 and I and many of my friends have had girlfriends. Nothing to worry about. Let him go to a movie with her and few friends.

There is nothing wrong with boys having friends that are girls at that age and girls having friends that are boys but dating...no way. The hormones are too much out of wack and the maturity levels not high enough to know when to slow down.

I have two young adult sons.

Its not if you should "let him"... He's going to have a girlfriend if he wants too... Its best he lets you know, so you know whats going on, rather then hide it and have you in the dark!!!

If you tell them no, they'll just date behind your back. It's best to be supportive, by supportive I mean watch them. Allow them to come to your house as long as they stay in your view and don't leave them alone. This way you know where they are and what they are doing.

Not yet. Why put your son in that type of a relationship so soon? He's still a kid, no matter what he may think.
