hi, my boyfriend and i have been together for 2 years and live together as well. we want to get married and have already spoken to my parents/purchased the ring :)

he is illegal and needs papers which i am glad to assist him with. problem is, i have already married an illegal once before and stayed married for four years before it fell apart (all for real... we lived together for years but i disapproved of his lifestyle/career choice in the end). will this interfere w/ my new marriage and his greencard even though both marriages were/are for real w/o any money involved? also, how long after marriage will it take my new husband to get his social security #? my father's engineering firm is willing to hire him as a drafter but spaces are limited and i'm afraid he may not be neutralized in time (in california)... it used to be 30 days... has it changed?

thanks!

(what can i say... i have a taste for german men ;)

I don't think you'll have any problems. I'd expect them to be more suspicious and possibly ask for more evidence, but that doesn't have to be the case. They might also grant him "Conditional Green Card" which is valid only for 2 years, but if you are still married after that time, they'll change it to the 10 year one! As far as SSN, it shouldn't take that long; he can immediately apply for one as soon as his application for status change (Green Card) is received (INS will send a letter of confirmation). After that, it shouldn't take more than a week - at least not in Illinois - I don't know about California.
Hope I helped!
GOOD LUCK!!!

Marriage or offspring will not give an illegal alien legal status under any circumstance since he entered illegally. Blame his parents for doing this to him. He is not an immigrant but the correct term is illegal alien! You can get married with I.D. but be prepared for the day he will be caught and deported. Too many marry these criminals and whine when laws are enforced and they are deported and banned for at least ten years. And if he has a criminal record, he may not return even after his ban for his criminal actions.

Since 2002 illegal aliens are not allowed to adjust status. They must leave the country to be interviewed for their immigrant visa. There's a good chance the illegal immigrant will be banned from returning to the United States for 3 to 10 years.

You need to hire an experienced immigration attorney for this matter.

well you also have a taste for illegals. for you own benefit dont marry him until he is legal.
He is going to need to get the papers and he is going to need to leave the country and then wait out the process.
Or he can leave and apply for a work visa while he is waiting out the other papers.

What the hell is wrong with you? Why on earth are you marrying illegal aliens? My advice is to marry an American citizen, or move to Germany. You'll find plenty of Germans there!
