My hair is naturaly straight and because I live in Texas and it's humid I can't do anything to it but blow-dry it or straighten it. If I do anything else it falls flat. Anyone have any ideas to a hairstyle I could try? -excluding ponytails, braids..etc.

Angel, Monkey is correct about the body perm with large rollers. It will help support a style for a few days here in Texas. You can even wear it without styling. I would recommend you consider keeping your hair long enough to put up in a pony tail when you're in a hurry or just don't feel like bothering.

A perm with tighter curl will support a style for 5 or 6 days, and can be worn "as is," without further styling, especially with the right cut.

No matter which perm appeals to you most, you need to know that permanent wave chemicals give you their best work in the first 3 months, then lose strength. You can get perms that last a bit longer, but they are more expensive. If you do decide to get a perm, choose your hairdresser carefully -not all hairdressers have the same education and experience. You usually do get what you pay for.

As an aside, you can indeed have thick (amount of hairs per square inch,) fine (diameter of individual hairs.) But it is a hard concept for people to understand. If you have more questions, you can make me one of your contacts and email me through Yahoo!Answers.

i have the same problem. Get a perm with big rollers. A body perm is what I do with clients with fine thick hair. and the humidity there is to your advantage because a body perm and the right shampoo and conditioner will help. I specialise in long hair. My hair is short because I did goofy mistakeson myself. It is like the doctor says " Heal Thyself"

first of all you cant have thick fine hair- they are opposites- you can have a lot of fine hair or a little thick hair.

second, try velcro rollers. stick the big ones in all over just after you blowdry cause they are still hot then spray with a light hairspray. when you are done getting dressed, take them out and finger comb your hair.

also try a root lifter it should help with some of the volume.
