Even the best TVs (say Pioneer) have an average failure rate of 4%. Make sure you get the TV from a big company that will be around to fix it if you need to. Getting the extended warranty is not a bad idea either.

That question cannot be answered with a brand name. All brands will have their problems. Buy the tv with the best specs that you can find and make sure they have a service center in your area. And yes, with todays fairly new technology get an extended warranty.
