Is there any other substance or medication that stimulates the adrenal glands to make cortisol, besides ACTH.

SynACTHen is a synthetic compound that mimics the action of ACTH and will cause increase cortisol release.

There is also a drug called Cortrosyn, which is used to stimulate the adrenals to make cortisol.

As SAMI said, lung tumors can be involved too, as well as other benign and malignant tumor by-products.
