I love to have a juicy steak every now and then. I grew up with my parents cooking steaks in the oven's broiler. That's fine but I've seen ppl also cook steaks in skillets/frying pans, grills and mini ovens too. I just want to know what is the BEST way to cook steaks so they're tender and keep all it's flavor?

A really good steak should be grilled over coals, it brings out the true flavor and adds that smoky taste that every great steak should have. Medium rare is the way I like mine cooked. Just enough so it's not overdone or raw and they cut like butter.

I always broil steaks. MMMM! They always turn out good. I just season them how I want, put the oven on broil, when it's hot throw it in the oven (with the shelf somewhere in the middle) and let it sit in there for about 7 min depending on how thick the steak is. Then I take it out and flip it over and put it back in for another 7 min. I cut the biggest piece in half to make sure it's cooked thru enough and that's it :) Oh and if you have an actual broiling pan it will work best, but I often times just use a plain old cookie sheet. My mom had a broiling pan, it is a regular pan on the bottom but the top piece sits in the pan with the top/meat about 2 inches above the pan, it has holes or slits in it so the grease drips through and stays away from the meat. Works very well.

There is no best way - it's just what you prefer. Some steaks do great on the grill and others are better pan fried. It really depends on your taste buds. Filet mignon is great in a pan and a little difficult on the grill but both can be wonderful. Rib-eyes are my favorite on the grill. That's the great thing about cooking - you don't have to do everyhting the same way all the time. Experiment and have fun with it. Try making up your own spice rub and try it on a small inexpensive steak before you purchase a big hunk of expensive meat.

I love the grill the most, it tastes great and its fun to do if you like cooking. I either marinate my steaks in teryaki and minced garlic for an hour then cook and add salt and pepper to it or I get 1 cup of aujus powder, 1/2 tablespoon seasoned salt, 1/2 tablespoon lemon pepper, 1 teaspoon garlic powder, mix in a bowl and then add too steak I only cover one side but add the amount you want. to keep them tender
you can buy a meat tenderizer its a tool w/ about 3O blades on the end and you hold by the handle and poke the steak lightly with it a few times on each side before cooking I highly recomend buying one there like 15-30 dollars search Jaccard they make good ones Ive been using them for 11 years now and no there not dangerous with the blades just hard to descibe what it looks like.

Charcoal grill is my first choice - you can't beat the flavor. I have a stovetop grill pan that's my winter tool. It's ridged, so you get good grill marks. =)

BTW - no matter what way you cook 'em - take it off the heat and let it sit and rest for 3-5 minutes before you cut into it, this way all the juices that go to the surface re-distribute into the meat and don't end up all over the plate and you end up with dry steaks.

The best way is the way YOU like your steak.

I prefer to grill ours outside on our gas grill but if I'm cooking in I prefer the skillet over the broiler. In the skillet I put some olive oil and seasoning, turn the heat way up and quickly sear the steak for a few seconds on each side, then turn heat down and finish cooking, we like ours medium rare.

I worked as a meat cutter for whole foods market #1pick a steak with lots of marbeling , the fact of the matter is the quality of beef depends on fat content, the higher the fat content the better the meat,little tip look for cuck eye steaks,it is nothing but a ribeye and should sell for about 350to399 a #
now cook on med heat and use a meat tharmometer to determine doneness. Use garlic, salt and pepper or a marinade like italian dressing, practice often and you will be a pro, Meat is good

Ok, here goes - Take a filet (or whatever cut) and season it with salt (Kosher if you have it) and let it sit for 15 min or so at ROOM TEMP. When that time is up, get a skillet and add 1-2 Tablespoons butter and about 1 clove (cut up) of garlic - Turn heat on skillet to med or med-high. When butter starts to smoke, turn heat down a little and add steak. Cook it for 3-4 min per side until it is nice and brown on both sides. Take out and place meat in 400 deg oven in a different skillet (or whatever you want to use) and cook for about 7-10 min (maybe longer depending on thickness of steak).

Here comes the GOOOOD part...

That dirty skillet you used - it is all dark and looks nasty -- no my friend that is the GOOOOOOOOODness of this recipe...

Get some white wine and add about 1 cup of wine to it and turn heat on high - boil and scrape all the stuff off the bottom of the skillet. Turn heat down after about 2-3 min and let it reduce to about 1/2 its original amount. To this, add 1 cup of cream (40% whipping cream) and about 3 teaspoons (1/2 tablespoon) or so of pepper (cracked if you have it - add to taste - you can always add more later) and 1 smidge of beef base (of you dont have the thick beef base, use a bullion cube or two). Again this is to taste -

Let it simmer (don't let it boil) for a few min. When the steaks are done, remove and turn heat to high on the sauce. Let it boil for only a few seconds (10 or so) then pour over steak and enjoy.

The secret is to buy marbled beef (fat pattern).
Usually grain-fed is the best, most tender.
Go for the better/expensive cuts:
prime filet, rib-eye, T-bone, etc.
The thicker the better, 1/2" to 1" or more.
You can rub the surface with spice mixes.

For cooking, you need to sear both sides quickly.
Best solution is a charcoal grill, in my opinion.
Allow up to a minute on each side at high heat.
Then reduce the heat & watch carefully.
Top surface will show some juices: red, pink, brown, etc.
Or use a temperature fork to test doneness.
