Jesus was born Friday 14 Nisan, 6 CE, the same year as the Census, both mentioned in the New Testament and historically verified.

So if you want to take 2000 years from the year of his birth you get 2007- this year!

Jesus was crucified on Friday 14 Nisan, 36 CE, (not 33 CE), the same year that Pilate was summonsed back to Rome and exiled for the whole thing.

So if you base his return 2000 years after his crucifiction then it would be 2037.

Cheers

Frank

ME! I've heard every nutty dating from the year 1988 to 2000 to 2012(the end of the Mayan calender)now 2033??
Guess what? They didn't have a calender like ours, they worked on 360 day years not 365.To the Jews it 's like 5000 something. We also don't know really what Jesus' age was,or the exact year of his birth.I'll take His word for it"No man knows the day or the hour, not the angels of heaven or myself(that was before the resurrection,He does now!)but only my Father who is in heaven"
I have this weird tendency to believe the Lord, and that He knows better than us.
Date setting only makes one look foolish after that date passes.
When you look to historians of the time,it is more likely Jesus was born 2 B.C.Still a guess though.

I'd really appreciate it if you DIDN'T CAPS EVERYTHING YOU SAY.

The bible specifically tells us that we can't know the time of his return, several times in fact. "No one will know the hour or the day", "He comes like a theif in the night", ect.

Where's the evidence that he'll come back in 2000 years, anyways? Sure it's a nice, even number by our standards, but God doesn't measure by our time.

Besides, if you want to be technical, Jesus was born in 2 or 3 B.C. Some where in there, someone screwed up our year system, so it's off a few years.

EDIT: To Keekla, yes, I do believe that the world was created in 6 days. "There was evening and morning, the xth day"

You can all go ahead and give me a bad rating for expressing my beliefs now.

First Jesus said, if you believe The World of God, that he would return within the lifetimes of his 11 living disciples. But he was busy that night. Now, it's 2033? I will not be around--I was born in 1936--but I'm sure you'll be there to welcome him. Just look for a short guy with dark skin and a large Semitic nose and a question on his lips: "What the hell are Christians? I was born a Jew, I preached as a Jew, I died as a Jew--remember the Romans' sign at the top of the cross, 'King of the Jews'? Infidel!"

Dear West side Rider,

Most Bible scholars based on Biblical and non-Biblical teachings believe Jesus to be around the age of 33 when he died on the cross.

Jesus' teaching on his return tells us that nobody knows the hour or the day. Matthew 24:36-44.

Hope that helps. Kindly,

Nickster

This is a complicated and misunderstood issue - Jesus is not 'coming back' like you see those guys parachute in the stadium at the Super Bowl.

It is and always was spiritual, and involves Hebrew wedding tradition. Believers are the "Bride," and Jesus is the "Bridegroom" - in Hebraic tradition, the groom went to prepare a place for the bride, then came back for her - he sweeped her off her feet in a chariot-like conveyance, like a sidecar on a motorcycle.

The Bride(Church) is to remain with the Groom (Christ)forever in the Kingdom - the NT is full of references pointing to this event happening soon, and the destruction of the Temple would be the sign that it had occurred.

The Temple was destroyed in AD 70.

He did not say He would return in 2000 years. He said " Surely, I come quickly".He did not give a specific time.

Where did you come up with 2000 years? Is there a particular verse in the bible that says that?

ME! DO NOT guess when jesus will come. NO, absolutely no 1 can come up with any (correct) formula 1 predict Jesus' coming. The Bible says, not even JESUS noes when the 2nd coming is, only God, Jehovah.

It does not anywhere say he will return 2000 years after his death in the Bible. What are your sources?
