(animal, mammal). Ecclesiastes 3:18-19. Furthermore he must believe that a man has no preeminence above a beast.
I do not read anywhere that the creationists and intelligent design people ever quote these scriptures. Why not. Are they ignorant of them? All I here is how we are not animals and that we are above them.

Was not trying to twist them and didn't want to print out the whole thing. Unlike some other people.

Who knoweth the spirit of man that goeth upward, and the spirit of the beast that goeth downward to the earth?"
That sounds more like solomon is questioning that we go to heaven. He isn't saying we do. Who Knoweth and a question mark.,

We are definately animals. Dividing us down in the animal family, we are mammals. further dividing, we are primates. Back about 500 BC, one of the great Greek philosophers said, " We are not much different from the other animals, nor are we superior to them ".

That would be taking the verses out of context, since the point of those verses is to show that humans and animals are the same in that they both die. Humans are no different from animals as far as the fact of death goes. But they are above animals in all other ways.
Ecclesiastes is all about Solomon thinking about the vanity of things in this life. But at the end, he sums it up by saying that our whole reason for being here is to obey God, and that God will judge us on if we do that or not.

likely the reason no one quotes it is because it was of Solomon. Solomon was given wisdom to govern Israel, nothing else. now I'm not saying this is an incorrect statement of Solomon, but the message of Ecclesiastes is basically "life is meaningless without God. one just lives, and then dies. what's the point?"
so really, Solomon is correct about it: we are mammals in body, we have life just as the animals do, we die just as they do, we do not have any physical abilities over an animal; what sets us apart is our soul, which came from God.
does that clear things up?

18 I also thought, "As for men, God tests them so that they may see that they are like the animals. 19 Man's fate is like that of the animals; the same fate awaits them both: As one dies, so dies the other. All have the same breath [a] ; man has no advantage over the animal. Everything is meaningless.
he is comparing us to animals... not saying we are below them or above them =) Good try to twist scriputures and not even use the whole scripture either

Your interpretation is wrong, if you read the text closely, you will see that Solomon made a distinction between man and beasts when they die WHEN YOU ADD VERSE 20.
Ecclesiastes 3:18-20
"I said in mine heart concerning the estate of the sons of men, that God might manifest them, and that they might see that they themselves are beasts. For that which befalleth the sons of men befalleth beasts; even one thing befalleth them: as the one dieth, so dieth the other; yea, they have all one breath; so that a man hath no preeminence above a beast: for all [is] vanity. All go unto one place; all are of the dust, and all turn to dust again. Who knoweth the spirit of man that goeth upward, and the spirit of the beast that goeth downward to the earth?"
In the text, Solomon obviously was observing that there is no difference between man and animals when it comes to death; but that there IS A DIFFERENCE between man and animals when they die:
"Who knoweth the spirit of man that goeth upward, and the spirit of the beast that goeth downward to the earth?"
What makes man above the beast is that God made man in His image after His likeness and gave man dominion OVER the beasts.
Genesis 1.24-28
"And God said, Let the earth bring forth the living creature after his kind, cattle, and creeping thing, and beast of the earth after his kind: and it was so. And God made the beast of the earth after his kind, and cattle after their kind, and every thing that creepeth upon the earth after his kind: and God saw that [it was] good.
And God said, Let us make man in our image, after our likeness: and let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over the cattle, and over all the earth, and over every creeping thing that creepeth upon the earth. So God created man in his [own] image, in the image of God created he him; male and female created he them.
And God blessed them, and God said unto them, Be fruitful, and multiply, and replenish the earth, and subdue it: and have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over every living thing that moveth upon the earth."

Nor are they required to import first century cultural mores into the 21st century.

We are to treat animals like they are equal, as in don't kill and torture them. But we are to rule over them Genesis 1:8. This means we are to use them for work and helping purposes, but we are not allowed to treat them unkindly.
