I am a christian and I do not reject science I believe in evolution just not that we evoved from apes, I believe that when God said let there be light that might have possibly been the big bang and many people take the Bible extremely literally. They say that the world was created in 6 days I bleieve how do we know what a day is to God. I am not offended but generalizing people like this is unfair. Calling what someone believes n as nonsence and saying it doesn't matter show just how prejudiced you are and should make people wonder why the point you are trying to make should matter to a world where all people should be trying to get along.

Well, simply put, no.

The Church can't make up whatever nonsense it wants. While occasionally denominations have added their personal views into their interpertation of the Bible, I feel that this is wrong. If you believe some nonsense you made up, you're a fool. Many people outside have this view of spirtuallity, like people who say "Whatevers good for you is right". Like you said, opinions don't affect reality.

And I wouldn't say that Christians flat out reject science. I don't. We don't agree with certain parts of science, such as Evolution, but no one believes every theory. Heck some scientists disagree with gravity, no one says that they "reject science" though.

People just like to view Christians as irrational I believe. They disregard their beliefs and classify them as opinions and nonsense, and generally like to think of them as backwards.

Edit: To guy up there (He's like 3rd or 4th from the top). Just cause the Pope says something doesn't make it right. Example, Crusades, Indulgences, ect.

Even thought the bible is not a text book on science. It is scientifically correct. It is the dogmatic religious leader that make the teachings of the bible sound foolish.
Many of them insist that God made the earth and everything in it, in 6-24 hour days. As I have learned about God. He is patient about everything. And this includes the making of the earth.
2 Peter 3:8 states: However, let this one fact not be escaping YOUR notice, beloved ones, that one day is with Jehovah as a thousand years and a thousand years as one day.
So, God's days are 1000 years long. So did God create the world in 6000 years? Probably not. But I am not sure about this. I only know that God is a God of order. And by seperating each creation per each day shows order.

Who says that all Christians reject science? I've met many Christians who happen to work in the sciences.

Guido, Guido, Guido, I am a Christian and I have 2 degrees in biology (BS, MS). Your generalizations hurt :( As for the made up part, well if some science fiction writer came up with something in the last 50 years I would probably agree but our religion has been around about 4000 years when things were happening with Abram so I'll take their word for it.

By the way what are your scientific credentials? Want to talk some biochemistry/ molecular biology? My guess you have not graduated HS

They reject science because in church, the lunatics are in charge of the asylum.

Churches are run by poorly educated men (usually men). They go to special schools called "seminaries" so they don't have to subject their religion to criticism. There they learn dogma instead of critical thought.

Most of them don't have a clue about biology or any other branch of science. They also tend to know little about social science or the humanities, or history, or especially philosophy.

These uneducated preachers then tell their followers that they will burn in hell for not believing what they say. Since the followers have been subjected to this since childhood, they often agree.

I don't reject science. Except when it contradicts the bible.

If someone thinks the bible is nonsense, that's up to them. One day, all things will be revealed. And I'm a very, very patient person.

question aimed at annoying and provoking a response. you clearly show what side you are on from the way the question is worded. why not actually find out what in the world of science that most Christians accept and what they don't before you come out and make a broad illegitimate comment like this one.

Well, the Red Queen worked on believing six impossible things before breakfast. (Remember that Catholics go to Mass before they go to breakfast if they are going to take communion.)

I think the fundamentalists (by no means all Christians) reject science because they know that it contradicts the Bible. They are honor-bound to accept the Bible as literally true, which means they have to not only give up science, but logic. Not to mention any reasonable definition of the term "literal."

get your facts right. Improper science is that which excludes God from the possibilities and must then choose some new fangled theory from the other, less than optimal choices. Scientists who are willing to examine ALL possibilities usually will find God at the end of their studies. I know many very intelligent people for whom this is true. Some who even set out intentionally to disprove God. They found Him because He is behind all the scientific laws.
