Hello, I'm 15, and I am interested in becoming a Wiccan. I've read a lot on the subject, and I realize deeply that it's not a trend or a club, rather, a lifestyle for those willing to accept it designed to promote personal and spiritual growth.
If you are a Wiccan or former Wiccan, please relay your experiences here. Do you regularly do magick? How do the people around you feel about it? What convinced you to become a Wiccan? How old were you, etc?
Thanks.

Oh, and, please, if you are just going to come badmouth Wicca and convince me that I need Jesus before I'm killed by a bolt of lightning, or if you are going to try and convince me that I don't indeed want to become a Wiccan, please, please don't answer.

=)

Thank you so very, very much for doing exactly what I politely asked not to do in my original question. :)

OK.
Yes, I realize that it is indeed a very serious religious path. Religion isn't something to to toy with and then give up when you are tired of it; however, I think it is natural enough to evaluate and find your own path. It's not some sort of Harry Potter-like thing where you point your little magical wand at an object and it suddenly becomes a goblet full of water. It's not some twisted thing that allows you to take control of another person, get revenge on him/her, make them randomly fall in love with you. It's a very, very serious path, like I said earlier, that is about personal and spiritual growth. The threefold rede is very similar to the Christian golden rule, the Hindu samra, etc, but I am not getting into that.

And again, I beg of you, I deplore you, if you are just going to come and complain about Wicca/badmouth it/convince me that it's wrong and bad, please, please, PLEASE, just GO AWAY.
Realize also before flaming me that I'm not even a wiccan at the moment.

Well, my young friend, you do seem to be very genuine. i am a witch, not Wiccan. Mostly because I truly am a gypsy and am not in one place long enough to get involved in any type of coven. I am Pecti-Witan, a solitary Hedge Witch. I became a witch at around 12 or 13 (40+ years ago), but my mother was a closet witch and I am the great-grand-daughter of a Comanche Medicine Man, so it kinda runs in the family. My sister is a devout Christian and she accepts me for who I am as does my father. My stepmother does not like it one bit and is not afraid to tell me so!
Have you decided on what denomination you are going to follow? You are probably aware that few, if any, covens are going to welcome you with open arms until you are at least 18.
It is indeed a lifestyle. A good one at that, one to be respected as you respect the earth.
For now, if I were you, I would concentrate on leaning all I can and decide which path you are going to follow. If I can offer any more knowledge or advice, feel free to contact me.

Anyone can be Wiccan, it's simply another form of Spirituality, however many followers of Wicca do have a sense of feeling drawn to it, or being 'special'. However, Wicca is not simply spells and magick, it is a spirituality, and one which encourages constant learning and studying. It's not a faith where you just sit back and listen to others, and one where you are an active member in your exploration and growth. You can dedicate yourself to Wicca whenever you like, or whenever it feels right (follow your intuition, you have it for a reason) but do remember to study, learn and gain information from a variety of people. Perhaps consider joining a study circle, or a group or coven that can help you prepare for your journey ahead? If you are a solitary, than read, practice, think, read, and experience the divine in Nature all around you. Practice meditating, hold a small ritual, attune to the cycles of the Earth. You'll soon find that spells and magic play only a small part in Paganism, and learning to live with the Earth, rather than simply on it, will play a larger role in your growth and development than a little cord or candle magick ;) Good luck in your journey ahead, and I hope this helps you! Love, Light and Laughter!

By what you have wrote, you seem to be genuenly interested. I think it's an automatic reaction (I know it is with me) to tell teenagers that wicca is not a game, seeing as most (not all) are looking into it as revenge, a trendy thing, or because they think its something to do to be cool.

I try to do magick as often as I can, but with a two and a half year old and a ten day old, it gets a little difficult. I do keep the Lord and Lady in mind and try to talk to them on a daily basis. My husband doesn't say much about it. I haven't told anyone else of my choice in paths, because really its none of anyone's business. While I'm not wiccan, I chose the path I'm on (Witchcraft) because I was looking for something more. I believed in a God, but I also believed that there had to be some female aspect as well. I looked into what would closely correspond with this and found Paganism. I was about 20 when I stumbled upon this. I found it interesting and continued studying much of this (including wicca). I would say good luck to you, and hope that you find what you are looking for.

I have been Wiccan, specifically, for well over 20 years, but I would not lead you into Wicca because I have a 15year old son, and if I would lead you into Wicca, then I'm telling the universe it's okay for some religious leader to do the same to my son. (EVEN if it was a creep like that Phelps person)

I'd say that any trad making magic(k) seem important is leading you astray.... Wicca is 100% about interaction with the (VERY REAL) gods.

When you're 18 (which really isn't long off) i'd suggest finding a tradition to learn within, one that doesn't charge or claim to be ancient.

Well, there are many traditions that apply, and different paths of Wicca, I just follow what I'm comfortable with. I've been to a few rituals, but I find them unnessesary and could do that on my own if I wanted. Nothing to special. If you are interested in reading about the different traditions a good website is witchvox.com.

I don't regulary do magic. Thats an optional practice. Most of my people were ok with it once they knew what it was. I was researching religions one day, found Wicca, and felt that it called to me. I really researched it and studied it for a long time before I called myself a Wiccan. It's a serious undertaking. Don't listen to the zealots. Follow your heart and find your own path.

Blessed Be!

^This is a earth religion and not to be fooled with, Wiccans take their religion very seriously, you sound sincere, I hope you are.

Don't think you will get everything you want with a few herbs, candles and incense.

Remember everything you do comes back to you three fold, good and bad.

Read books by Sybil Leek she was one of the best. Blessed be.

Blessed be.

I'm not a Wiccan, but a more general pagan, and I just wanted to say 'hey' and give moral support :-) I do magik for certain things, not often, but I'm pretty good at it.

Wiccas are grown up kids pretending to be playing adult games. They invented all sorts of rituals, beliefs, holidays, etc. Isn't the imagination wonderful ?
