i heard that will fry any equipment that is being used to tapp the line is this true?

you actually think that the guys that connected your house to the pole didn't install a fuse that would prevent you from trying anything like that, it would actually just create chaos in your neighborhood.

depends on the equipment. If its a tab connected to the phone this may be true but if its connected to the line it probably isn't.

I'm betting it will blow out anything hooked up to the lines AND blow up the lines too!
