Honestly. I don't believe anyone here can state that a tangible "god" has called to them or spoken to them. No allegory or metaphors here, please...if God has spoken to you or called to you, would you not be classified as schizophrenic? I'm completely serious about this, it is either your conscience that is calling to you (which is based on sets of values learned through life experience) or you're crazy - if you've spoken with God. Be sensible, please.

There is a difference between hearing voices in your mind & hearing with the ears of your spirit.

I don't know of many people who are speaking of a literal "call" when they say they have been called by God. I'm sure you're right - there are a few people out there that believe they have actually heard something, and while I find that unlikely, I don't live in their heads, so I'm not in a position to judge. If you decide that you don't want to talk about allegory or metaphors, then effectively you have already decided the question, and there's no reason to continue the discussion.

Have a good one.

Is there a question here? Or are you breaking the rules by rambling on and not asking a question?

I am perfectly sane. Highly intelligent. And perfectly sensible. And YES - God called me.

Science has shown that those of us who hear God are perfectly sane. They used to think people like Teresa of Avila had temporal lobe epilepsy. Visions in an ecstatic state. Now they know this isn't true. Perfectly healthy sane people have visions and actually talk to God.

Put down the soda. Get off your couch and do some study.

quite, God's call is Yahweh or Yahovah, or you could call Him Yah because it is the only first 3 letters all and sundry can agree upon. right it is why: whilst the Hebrew previous testomony became into written they did no longer use vowels, basically consonants. So, each time God's call became into written it regarded enjoyed this YHVH or YHWH. because of the fact the Jews did no longer communicate His call out loud for worry of utilising it in ineffective. It became into held because of the fact the main sacred observe it is easy to desire to talk, and it became into basically spoken very not often via the severe Priest. interior the region of God's real call, the Jews spoke of as Him Adonai. because we now no longer have a Levitical Priesthood the pronunciation of His real call has been misplaced and has exchange right into a large secret. cutting-facet Linguists who learn Hebrew have arise with Yahweh or Yahovah as available pronunciations for God's call. maximum persons desire to call Him Yahweh, that's meant to intend He who's, and who would be. i'm no longer a linguist and that i'm nevertheless analyzing this concern myself. yet it is what I even have discovered so a techniques. wish it helps. Shalom!

I used to live by my own choices and gut feelings based off my desires. When I accepted Christ, I asked him to lead the way. Ever since my instincts have a certain wholeness and comforting feeling to them. That is when I know God is speaking to me. It is totally different then the urgency I used to feel when it was not coming from God but created by my desire. As you grow with God the spirit comes to you in many other ways. Divine Intervention, dreams, and yes, sometimes a whisper in your ear. It is only sounds crazy when you do not have faith or believe God is there to maneuver you.

Now days ,God speaks through his Word the Bible. If someone says "God told me'Son I want you to do....and I said 'Look Lord I ...blah blah"...
I might say he's full of crap.As young long haired surfer in So. Cal. in the 60s,God was always tapping me on the shoulder ,either by the people I'd meet or radio or T.V. I knew instinctively if the people were genuine or not.I didn't realize that was a gift of God till much later on.I resisted Him in various ways until I was 30.Long story short. He led me to a longish haired bearded pastor(I'd never accept a suit and tie guy)who taught the Bible verse by verse but also ancient and Biblical history which just fascinated me to no end.God knew what I needed and led me to it.That's how He spoke "To my heart".Not audibly.

I don't know too many people (OK, I don't know anybody) that God has directly spoken to with His voice but I know MANY people (myself included) that God has spoken to through other humans. The "call" you are speaking of is real in many senses. I was "called" by God on different occasions in different ways. Sometimes through thoughts. Sometimes through the Bible. Sometimes through friends. Sometimes through nature. God works in mysterious ways and they are glorious for those who open their eyes to see His work. I pray you understand that it's a real thing but not in the sense you are thinking of. Be blessed!

You aren't alone: we all need God.The good news is that God has not left us wandering in a dark place but has come looking for us. This is what is meant by God calling you...He is not aloof, off making other worlds, or too busy gussying up heaven to notice us down here. What if God was one of us? He has taken on our flesh and become one of us. He looked like us, hurt like us, laughed like us.

I was at church one night when one of the ederly parishoners came up to sit by me. He was asking me how I had been and told me this story:

have you ever been going about your day and all of the sudden a thought pops into your head that you need to call so and so and see how they are doing?

have you ever been to wal mart and ran into someone you haven't seen in a while and talked to them and they really needed someone to talk to

have you ever needed someone to talk to and someone called you for no reason except to say hi

THAT IS GOD TALKING TO YOU!!!!
