My cousin for example, has a very crappy life. Yet she still prays. I on the other hand, am agnostic and have an okay life.

I dont understand it, but hey, you gotta stick to your guns right?

Ps. I have no idea if "stick to your guns" is a real saying or not... I might of just made it up, and it doesnt even make sense to me. Hahah.

Sounds like your cousin is grounded in her faith and steadfast despite the tribulations that she is experiencing. Though you are an agnostic,God can and will use you to encourage her,if you are willing....He loves you as well...Sticking to your guns,is a valid expression, that simply means,to be faithful in your convictions.

Give her a hug from me,if you would.

It is hard to have and keep your faith when it seems like your life is falling apart. You feel like god is leaving you, and the truth is that is when you need him most. For some of us, that is when our faith grows even stronger. So your cousin is very brave.

I, on the other hand, became so angry at god that I didn't speak to him for a whole year. I have this tradition of going to church on my birthday. and my birthday roled around and I found myself sitting in my car in the parking lot at church. Should I go in or not. Well, I went in and finally prayed. And felt so much comfort in that simple act.

and by the way stick to your guns is a real saying:
"Fighting Words: From War, Rebellion, and Other Combative Capers" by Christine Ammer (NTC Publishing Group, Chicago, 1989) has the most detailed explanation, ".Less in doubt than managing to hit a target was a gunner's obligation to stay at his post, whence the British term 'stand to one's guns' (in America, 'stick to one's guns'), meaning to persist and not give way. James Boswell, Samuel Johnson's biographer, writes in 1769, 'Mrs. Thrale stood to her gun with great courage in defense of amorous ditties.' A more perplexing use of this phrase occurred in a 1909 account about the staunchly pacifist Society of Friends: 'The Quakers stood to their guns, and without any resort to brute force, finally won.'"
