why is it that you believe in a savior that came 2k years ago??

wasnt that back when if you had a sexual disease they would cathaterize your p**is with a hot poker?? or if you got pneumonia they would stick leeches on you?? no wait that was only 200 years ago.
SO if they were doing that 200 years ago, how much more ignorant would they have been 2k years ago?

when someone comes to us now saying that they are the "son of god" we look for any reason to lock them up. but why is it so easy to believe that the "son of god" came 2k years ago?? is it because that someone did come? but that it wasnt a messiah it was just another charletonne.

i have heard so many presumptions, like how the bible was the first moral code. yet people had been building civilizations with moral codes long before the ten commandments.

so why is Your religion true?

so many of your traditions are taken from other Older religions.

So why is Your religion true?

ok let me make this more clear

2k years ago, there was ALOT more superstition! therefore people were more likely to believe things that we now would only laugh at.

written law dates back all the way to hammurabi, and he definitely said not to steal.
people instinctively know that lying is wrong, so besides the first couple commandments about how God is better than other people's gods. the ten commandments are nothing special.

ps. I am very open, I used to be christian myself. Course that was before i started looking up things outside my what my pastor told me to. thats when i started seeing the fallacies of the church.

please dont get me wrong. its a nice book, with nice things inside. but thats all it is. Nice

you have some interesting questions.

I don't know 100% if my religion is true.

BUT it is true enough for me. Jesus preached love. True love and true friendship. and that is enough for me to believe in. it is enough for me to have faith in. so I do.

Christians are just people that have experienced God in a way that has proven his existence to them. Whether it was an event, a feeling, or something else, each Christian has a unique experience that was as real as touch, taste, or smell. Christians may or may not be right. We believe that we are. But we KNOW that there is some kind of a higher power, and the texts would seem to support the things that we have felt and experienced. So the knowledge of a higher power coupled with a book of explanations leads to Christianity. Even if We're wrong, most Christians live happy fulfilling lives so what do we have to lose?

The stupidity and ignorance of the people back in Jesus' time seems to be the basis for you argument. Well, God wasn't dealing with our medical advancement or our concept of science when He sent His Son but He was dealing with right and wrong, forgiveness and salvation. Stealing, cheating, lying, killing, lust, gluttony, greed, etc. were being done by people back then and still are now. We haven't changed and I think that makes us pretty dumb on our part. So we can use computers and animation to make more movies come to life but do we know how to give back to the world with the money we make from them...no. The Bible provides answers to many problems if you know how to read it. As for moral codes, you said it yourself "people have been building civilizations with moral codes long before the ten commandments" ok, key word in there being PEOPLE. The 10 Commandments were sent from God and think about it, as simple as they are tell me who hasn't gone without breaking at least one. I'm a Catholic and everytime I have a problem my beliefs and religion have always been there to get me through it so I don't see how any other religion would get me through life seeing that they have unanswered problems within them.

How else can you explain the earth and how everything works the way it does? Where did life come from? No big bang came make something that is nonliving come to life. There has to be a truth. You can believe what you want to, but something has to be true. Once you look at everything with an open mind I hope you realize that God is real.
Read the book: the Case for Christ. It was written by an athiest who tried to prove God was not real only to come to the realization that God is who the Bible says God is.

The reason I believe in Christ is that, it has been recorded in the bible that he died and was buried, and resurrected on the third day, and appeared to peter and then to the twelve, after that he appeared to more than five hundred of the brothers at the same time. 1 Corinthians 15:4-6 I know I wasn't there to witness this, but if you take the time to study the bible not just read, you will know that from the beginning it was God's plan to redeem us from the sins of this world by sending Jesus in the flesh, the prophets prophesied all that would happen and they where inspired by the Holy Spirit! read 2 peter 1:16-21

The Bible is not only the Word of God, it is historically accurate; some major battles and happenings that have been recorded in historical textbooks are also found in the Bible. If the Bible is accurate on history (which it most surely is) then the phrophecies recorded in there are too. There are over 300 prophecies which have been predicted by prophets in the old testament; Jesus fulfilled most of them already and will fulfill the rest when He comes back to take us home.

DO YOU REALLY WANT TO KNOW OR ARE YOU STILL LOOKING FOR MORE FLAWS TO SOLIDIFY YOUR DOUBT
AND UNBELIEF? If I gave you an anwer that was plausible I don't think you would be able to grasp it because it takes true spiritual revelation, and you don't have that! I could tell you of things that I have experienced and seen that would never fit into your view of life because they require spiritual sight and discernment. Since you obviously reject Christ it is clear and powerful evidence that you are "spiritually dead" in trespass and sin and have no spiritual sight of any kind.

I would like to help you, but I am afraid it is of no use if you are
set in your stance against truth. The things you mention in your post show you don't understand spiritual things.

If you are willing to examine things from a point of view that isn't the one you have established for yourself, and if you are not locked into your view but can honestly evaluate something in an objective manner there is hope for you. If not, trying to reason with you would be fruitless and futile and a total waste of both our times.

EDIT: I SEE YOU DEPENDED ON WHAT YOUR PASTOR TOLD YOU AND THEN YOU SAID YOU STUDIED IT FOR YOURSELF. I WONDER - DID YOU EVER ASK THE HOLY SPIRIT TO GUIDE YOUR STUDY OR DID YOU DEPEND ON
YOUR OWN HUMAN INTELLECT AND NOTHING ELSE?

There have been described in the Old Testament 300 prophecies of the first coming of the Messiah and 500 of the second coming, all of then made hundreds of years before the birth of Jesus and fulfilled to the letter in Jesus Christ, the Messiah.
The odds of one man fulfilling only 40 of those prophecies are 1 in 10 to the power of 157. That is a 1 followed by 157 zeros. Compare it to this; your odds on winning the state lottery are 14 followed by 6 zeros.
The odds of being fulfilled only 60 of them by the only person who claimed to be the Son of God, and who died on a "tree" on Calvary, and who rose the 3rd day are astronomical!... not just one in one trillion, but one out of ten to the 895th power. That is a one over a one followed by 895 zeros.
John 20:29
Jesus saith unto him, Thomas, because thou hast seen me, thou hast believed: blessed are they that have not seen, and yet have believed.
Show me another that has fulfilled prophecy like Jesus Christ did and will.

The Gospel writers studied everything carefully in order to find the truth. Eeryone admitted that Jesus had supernatural powers, even Jesus' enemies, the Jewish leaders. The Fact is that Jesus healed many, even then, many wouldn't believe in him, The APostle Thomas didn't believe until he touched his wounds after the resurrection!

"it seemed fitting for me as well, having investigated everything carefully from the beginning, to write it out for you in consecutive order, most excellent Theophilus. In this way you will know that what you've been told is true.." Luke 1:3-4

I reckon if somone today who said I am the son of God and who also performed the miracles Jesus was credited with, would at the very least be given some benefit of the doubt.

Why did so many eyewitnesses die rather than recant their faith in what you claim is a hoax?

That is what makes the argument worthless. Those men and women were heavily persecuted, yet it was virtually unheard-of for ANY of them to recant their faith EVEN WHEN IT MEANT LIFE OR DEATH.
