There are "accent" classes you can take to acheive the standard American accent which is what you hear on television news. Actors take accent trainings and coachings to do different accents properly when in movies all the time. Some are bad...like Mel Gibson in Braveheart. I'm Vietnamese and I can do a better scottish accent. I speak 5 languages and I am a firm believer in pronouncing languages well (depending on what part of the country you are in).

I was born in America and I must tell you, there is no single "American accent." This is a very large country and there are many American pronunciations. Also, Americans are used to different pronunciations. It does not matter to us if you have an Asian accent. What is important is the way you use the language. If you have correct grammar, it is okay. Why don't you want to tell where you are from? You should be proud of your heritage. Americans will like you, no matter where you come from. They ask you where you come from because they are curious. Do not be ashamed to tell them. Be proud that you are working so hard to speak such a difficult language.

You will improve with practice. Listen carefully to the way Americans pronounce the words on TV. They speak what is called "standard English." Try to imitate the way they say the words. Also, ask American friends to help you. Good luck to you.

it's really hard.. it's not easy to improve the accent.. unless you work very hard on it, for example, you watch American TV and make friends with American people, also speak English, and find a tutor who can correct your accent... then that would help a little bit... I have the same problem here.. even though I have lived here for a long time.. still my pronuciation is not good..:(

I think the easiest way to imitate an accent is to listen to it. Watch some American movies or TV programming and mimic it. Practice makes perfect. Good luck!
