There are a lot of themes that you can go with...
A beach/Hawaiian theme is fun to do because if you like bright fun colors it's super easy.

You can do a garden theme and have loads of flowers.

You can do a country theme wedding, and have hay stacks and line dancing, and BBQ food w/ Ice tea or lemonade drinks.

It's all a matter of what you and your Future hubby want! Look at different wedding favors and invites online they will give you an idea of what you would like Good luck!

My wedding was a month and a half ago and my theme colour was bronze/gold for the late Summer feel. My flowers were beige/white roses with orange burnt tips. My bridesmaids were wearing three bronze/goldish looking mermaid dresses It was an outdoor wedding so while the day was really nice and sunny, my sister's backyard was transformed into a wedding gazebo with flowy white fabric draped over the rustic metal gazebo. We had the music from the living room played on loud so that it would flow into the backyard during my walk down the aisle. It was quite nice *^_^* I also had a lot of fake gold and yellow flowers all over the yard just so it looks like it's a wildflower garden. But that's because my wedding took place on the last weekend of August, hence, the late summer theme. When's your wedding? The winter wonderland theme is GREAT for weddings that happen in Nov - Feb. Imagine everything white, blue and frosted silver. Let blue roses or blue tip calla lilies be your theme flower, with lots of white and light blue fabric draped around each table of your guests. *^_^* Good luck!

I did an island tropical theme. I've seen themes like Marte Gras, casino/gambling, Cinderella, Renaissance, Pirate, 1930/40s, Big Band, Rustic barn, and gothic.

I saw a sweet 16 party (on that MTV show) where Magic was the theme (looked awesome--but I'm sure she spent a fortune on props). I saw another one with Venetian Masquerade. That one looked way too elegant for a 16 year old.

How theme do you want to go? Are you still going with elegant? Or country? Of course those can be themes as well.

What interests you? What do you share in common? Do you guys have a culture that you'd like to incorportate (Scottish is fun). Irish gives you lots of green--good easy color to find everywhere. There is so many themes you can do. You can also do the theme subtle or obvious. How bold are the 2 of you? Would you prefer to have Bright Bold colors or muted subtle tones? Do you like fall colors like rust and gold or spring colors like pastels? Your colors have to represent the theme so you want to make sure you like the colors.

You could go with something like a beach theme if it's in the summer. A costume party where no one knows who any one else is and see who can correctly name the most guest either in a set amount of time or just by the end of the party.

I did the same thing and had a wine themed party. Our favors were coasters (www.favorwarehouse.com) and the colors were burgundy and ivory. You can also try a garden theme which you can make as simple or as elaborate as you'd like. Maybe with some colorful paper lanterns or candles/soft creative lighting.

I was always wanting a hawaiian themed wedding, or maybe a cowboy wedding when the bride rides in on a beautiful horse.

My husband and I recently went to an English Garden type ceremony. They decorated the inside of the facility like an old fashioned garden party with, silk flowers and hundreds of candles instead of lighting. It was beautiful. Hope this gives you a starting off point.

I always wanted a reception with a 1920's gangster type theme. Throw in some zoot suits and fedoras...and have "gangsters" break in and stick up the party....lol.....of course it would all be in fun.....never made it happen though....ended up getting Mauied(married on a beach in Maui at sunset)
