"Nobody gets argued all the way into becoming a believer on the sheer basis of logic and reason. That requires a leap of faith. And that leap of faith seemed very scary to me. After I had struggled with this for a couple of years, I was hiking in the Cascade Mountains on a beautiful fall afternoon. I turned the corner and saw in front of me this frozen waterfall, a couple of hundred feet high. Actually, a waterfall that had three parts to it -- also the symbolic three in one. At that moment, I felt my resistance leave me. And it was a great sense of relief. The next morning, in the dewy grass in the shadow of the Cascades, I fell on my knees and accepted this truth -- that God is God, that Christ is his son and that I am giving my life to that belief."

One doesn't just suddenly believe that the Bible is correct, and Oh yes, it's the Bible that he believes. The instant you speak of 'God's son' there can be no other meaning since that is the source of such an idea. No atheist who doesn't believe for rational reasons will suddenly and inexplicably buy into the concept of a god who has a son, Heaven, Hell and so on with no evidence. So he's either a liar or was a latent theist all along. Either way, he's lost all personal credibility with me.

I have trouble understanding why people want to see science and religion as mutually exclusive, divisive... they are both forms of revelation... to me, science only makes the whole shebang only more remarkable..... I don't understand if someone should find it weird if a scientist studies all this, and acknowledges a rythym, order, or intelligence that takes place beyond his ability to comprehend or categorize the world, the human genome is complex, to study it, and unravel it's patterns and rythyms is a revelation unto itself..... no matter how well we may think we have unraveled the mystery, it only leads us to new mysteries.....

Wow, so he's a christian so everyone else has to be one. Because you know, there have never been any atheist scientist who have done good things for humanity. NO, NEVER. Not even any right now, working on curing disease and inventing things like the internet. All theists, every single one of them.

If that's what works for him in terms of living a good life, then that's good. Everybody has to follow his/her own path. If he can help the fundamentalists and the atheists understand each other, then more power to him.

Who cares what he believes, no person anywhere can show any evidence of an invisible, all seeing, all knowing, all present , invisible supernatural `God`. He is clever, and deluded, and has adopted yet another version of ID, called TE, which is basically, "God did it at the molecular level". Another confused believer.

Awesome! That is what it is really all about. That is why God tells us that we will be without excuse because He's everywhere and is constantly revealing Himself through His handiwork.

Science is exciting and I think the deeper we delve, the more we will find God. God is the ultimate free thinker!!!!

Gee, you mean you don't have to be stupid or hate science to be a Christian?

Anyway, to answer your question, I believe God calls us first, and that is why I never hassle atheists about not believing.
