I do not believe in the devil, Some people are evil. Evil comes from within a person. There is something screwed up in their brain..

Oh, now you've done it. You're going to get my detailed answer, for what it's worth, and I'm not sure anyone is going to like it.

I use the term Devil in two distinct ways: First, it is the name of one of the cards of the Tarot deck, but does not translate as "The Evil One." In fact, it more accurately translates as "The Horned (and horney) One." The Thoth deck, designed by Aleister Crowley, makes this abundantly clear; it is largely a symbol of male sexual energy, which I do not consider evil at all. My second use of the term "devil" should probably be more clearly understood as metaphor. A personification of temptation (including but not limited to sexual temptation), but not necessary to take it too literally.

On the other hand, I do believe in evil. It seems to come from people who are either born without souls altogether or who are born with evil souls. I mean, I think it manifests so early in life that it cannot be entirely dismissed as a learned personality trait. Those who are on heavy power trips, who enjoy seeing others suffer, who believe (or act as if they believe) that there is no reason for them to consider moral values at all. "Morals are for suckers" sorts of people.

Why are some people born that way, or develop it very early in life? I confess I do not know, but it may relate to their previous lifetimes. There are also clearly people who give themselves up to evil quite purposefully, as that guy who rampaged through Virginia Tech exemplifies. Hard as it is to understand, some people really do choose to be evil.

Can people who are born evil, whether without souls or with corrupt souls, ever be reformed? I think it is possible, but very rare.

Uncle Al believes in Lagavulin single malt scotch. If White Horse Distillers entered into a pact with the Devil to produce it, let's hope it was a protracted agreement.

Morality protects the State form its polity. Ethics protect the polity from each other and the State. What is evil? Evil is anything that competes with YOU.

Do you eat meat? That is sufficiently evil - killing and consuming the flesh of sentient beings.

Are you a vegan? Imagine a freshly harvested green pepper, turgid and crisp. Consider its taut skin aglow with the diffuse scattering of ambient light. Relish its complex aroma, its smooth touch, its organic totality in ripe perfection. Savor the sensation of your teeth explosively crunching into its resisting green bulk, the juices slathering your tongue in pungent ecstasy, the vapors caressing your nose, the sound titillating your ears as you are enveloped in sensual pleasure. I think it is all a bunch of hooey. I tear into green peppers because I like to hear them scream.

I believe the Devil exists. The Devil is the source of evil. He inspires evil by appealing to the selfish, prideful, covetous nature within us all.

GOD bless

I think evil comes from a conflict of interests. Hitler, Saddam, Stalin...none of these guys thought they were evil. One man's evil can be another's good.

Psych 101 - People make the choices they feel are best. People judge what is best based on experience. If someone's life was full of bad experiences, then their gauge for good choices is skewed.

This is one HELL of a question.

I think there is the devil (or something like him) and I tend to believe there is a hell (a place where bad people go when they die).

Evil comes from Oprah Winfrey.

i believe in both.
the devil and evil.
not the devil with pointy horns and a pitch fork!
I think the devil is more like sin. except sin is a living breathing thing. not just something we do. and evil is the result of all that sin roaming around the earth.....

satan/the devil/hell was created by christians to produce fear in the brain-washed/brain-dead believers minds so the believers would believe in religious false promises, lies and deceptions...

evil is in the minds of people in religion...
and comes from religious beliefs.

Here's simple Solution for evil and religion:

Create a Private, Personal, Direct, Divine Relationship with Our Creator and save Your Soul from religion's and atheist's beliefs and start Your journey back home, to Heaven.

<<<<<<< UnConditional Love is the only answer >>>>>>>

Love and Believe in Our Creator;
Love and Believe in Yourself.

"religion is Spiritual fraud";
"religion is the Worse invention of humanity";
"Universal Truth has eliminated religion from Spirituality",
quotes of Jesus Christ, Buddha and any one else with Spiritual intelligence.

"When a person is freed of religion, they have a better chance to live a normal and wholesome life." S. Freud

Here are some of my quotes:

Only with Our Creator's Love and Peace will we be Truly Free!
Without God, there is No Love; Without religion, there are No Wars!
Freedom of religion is Freedom from religion.

atheists = all the people in religion = all the ignorant fundamentalists = all the cults/superstitions = paganism = wicca = xians = homosexuals/lesbians = skinheads = politicians = lawyers.

No and No.

People do morally wrong things all the time, but this is a consequence of the interplay between Self, Tribe and Other as processed through our evolved instincts/predispositions for morality or lack thereof.
