My kitten is 3 months old and has a pot belly. He has already been to the vet with a stool sample and it came back positive for parasites (worms). I know a pot belly is a sign of this. He was put on medicine for it, which we have been giving him. My question is, when will his pot belly go away? Or is he stuck with it? Could it cause other health problems down the line? I've never been through this with any of my cats before, so any help is appreciated. Thanks!

Once the worms are gone his belly will get smaller. You should have another test done in a couple of weeks to make sure all the worms are gone.

If worms are not treated (or are incompletely treated), yes, they can cause health problems down the line, but once they're treated the cat will almost certainly be fine.

Once the kitten is free of the parasites the pot belly look will go away. Depending on the type of worms you may have to worm twice. Make sure you take a stool sample into the vet in a couple of weeks to double check. Good luck!

As long as you give the full course of medicine, kitty should be ok. It is normal for a kitten to have something of a little pot belly that waggles from side to side when they walk! But if it's not shrunk a bit after you've finished the course of medicine I would take him back to the vet just to make sure.

have another stool sample done, it took my cat 4 different prescriptions before he came back clean, but it'll go away about a month after the worms are gone, it'll just take a little while for his regular "kitten exercise" to tighten up his skin again

Once the parasites are gone, the pot belly will go with them.

(Unless of course, your kitten is horribly malnourished, which I doubt.)

Good Luck!
