I am totally clueless when it comes to HD radios for cars and my husband has been hinting about wanting one. I would like to surprise him on a special occasion we have coming up, but don't know what is the best HD car radio out there? Could anyone let me know what would be a good brand to buy? Thanks so much!

To my knowledge, the only CD player currently available with built-in HD radio is JVC's KD-HDR1. Most other after-market brands give you the option of adding a separate HD tuner module, which results in higher cost and more complex installations. I've installed several of the JVC units, and it appears to be a good quality, easy-to-use head unit.

You can also purchase HD radio tuners designed to work with factory radios, but you'll usually lose some sound quality through the factory radio connection. A replacement unit is the best way to go.

JVC all the way. Not too pricey, but not cheap just like any other HD Radio. We've owned several JVCs that worked great and always last through the Arizona heat. Just my 2 cents.
