I have driven 6600 miles in my new ford escape hybrid that i have owned since january. In the last week, even today when the weather was beautiful, i have not had the hv battery go in at all even on long trips, being idle, or going 5mph. Two weeks ago my battery was always kicking in and i got 37 mpg all the way. Why all of a sudden is my battery not working?

are there any lights on? if the weather is hot there it could be because the a/c will run and cool the hybrid battery in the rear of the vehicle. when you first start it does it idle for a couple of minutes and shut off? does it shut the engine off when you come to a stop?

battery? you mean batteries....plural. you have alot of batteries. this will be a hybrid problem, and as more hybrids take to the road the green idea will have people seeing red. your being sold a feel good by the tree huggers. hybrid is no better than a vw that gets excellent mileage.

your air conditioner is on now, where it probably wasn't before. i am a ford salesman, and i've noticed that a/c=no electric motor. try putting the windows down in town and lettin' that cool breeze blow thru.

on the '08 there is an 'economy' button under the a/c button.

if turning the air off doesn't cure your ill, then try the service department. also, try calling your salesman. if he's worth a darn, he will try to find a solution for you. if he's average, he'll act like he cares, and if he isn't very good at all, he'll act like he doesn't know you!
call your sales person. it's our JOB to make sure you understand how your car works, handles, and performs. make him earn that commission!!!

If you think you have a problem, then take it in to the dealer, it is under warranty. Like someone has already mentioned, it could be the AC coming on. Good luck with the Escape.

Sell it and buy a Toyota Camry Hybrid. The Ford Escape Hybrids are pieces of crap.
