1 Corinthians 6:9
Or (A)do you not know that the unrighteous will not (B)inherit the kingdom of God? (C)Do not be deceived; (D)neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor [a]effeminate, nor homosexuals,

I ask again, because no one anwered the previous question...

This verse clearly separates effeminate from homosexual...

So, are male choir members, men who dance ballet, interior designers, hair dressers, etc...any straight guy who is not butch...are they going to hell because they are not butch.

If you interpret the Bible literally, what other conclusion can you come up with...and if so....shouldn't church choirs only be filled with women, as the men, would have turned from their sinful lives of being effeminate, and butch it up.

Are any of you women married to effeminate men? Are you scared for their souls, as this verse clearly condemns them to the fiery pits of hell.

Lots of straight men are camp or effeminate and lots of gay men are extremely masculine. Be yourself is always the best policy, there is no such thing as sin it' s another religious fiction.

And I will reply the same way I did before. Effeminate in the Bible does not mean the same as it does today. It means sexual perversion, male prostitution. Here are the original words that it was translated from.

Malakos is listed among other vices in the New Testament book of 1 Corinthians. 6:9. Translations use different terms to express this: "The JB (1966) chooses 'catamite,' the NAB (1970) renders arsenokoités and malakos together as 'sodomite,' others translate malakos as 'male prostitute' (NIV 1973, NRSV 1989), and again some combine both terms and offer the modern medicalised categories of sexual, or particularly homosexual, 'perversion' (RSV 1946, TEV 1966, NEB 1970, REB 1992)." (Martin, 1996). The word malakos, #3120 in the Greek Dictionary of The New Testament of James Strong's Exhaustive Concordance to The Bible translates: "of uncertain affinity".

inheriting the kingdom of God is different than entering into the kingdom of God.

say there's a family who had a rich father. all the children get an inheritance. except for one son who got less than the others because he had not pleased the father as the others had. however, there's the stipulation held in trust that if the son would do as the others have done then he will get the same amount as the others.

not having an inheritance does not negate that he is a son and a member of the family.

because there was immorality among the church, the apostle Paul was speaking to christians. he was saying... you are family but you will not get certain blessings if you do such things in the list.

it says in acts 20:32 "now I commend you to God and to the word of His grace, which is able to build you up and to give you the inheritance among all those who are sanctified."

Paul wasnt saying that anyone would go to hell. that was not the issue at all.

Hi,
Its a clear prohibition towards effeminance. One should note first that we all have unique temperments and, clearly, to have one type - macho - would depict a broad generalization. However, our individuality is not a license for inappropriate and/or lewd behavior. Nor does one's job make the man - God clearly gives us different talents - thankfully! We are required to do anything we do to God's glory (Col. 3: 17). The scripture gives a variety of descriptions of what constitutes a "real" man: responsibility, deep knowledge of God, stability in faith and pure love (Job 38:4, 1 Cor. 16:11, 1 John 2:13). We've all been tempted in many ways and will repent until Christ returns or we go to Him. Spend quality time with Him and He'll conform you into the holy masterpiece He intended you to be.

i'm gay and "masculine" and that i'm getting the comparable question each and all of the time: "how are you able to be gay? you're no longer very effeminate." I in many cases provide the comparable answer you do: "no longer all gay adult men are effeminate; you basically did no longer comprehend the different ones have been gay, because of the fact they don't extra healthful the stereotype." It blows an excellent type of in the present day peoples minds that they stumble upon many many gay people on a daily basis, yet have no theory because of the fact they don't extra healthful the stereotype.

Just because a man is a dancer, designer or hairdresser DOES NOT MAKE HIM EFFEMINATE.

Acting like a girl makes you effeminate. Wake up.

And, BTW grow up. You have no clue what you're talking about.

This is a suggested translation of the Greek word that you are referring to.

Effeminate ...
Macknight wrote that this word is translated from a Greek word meaning "catamite," the technical word for "a boy used in pederasty." "Those wretches who suffered this abuse were likewise called pathics, and affected the dress and behavior of women." Catamites were the passive partners in sodomy.

My brother in law used to buy more Timewise Facial cleanser and satin hands from me than most women when I sold Mary Kay. He also shaves his legs and arms and baby oils them. Man I like to rub them. They are soft.

He is what the world considers metrosexual.

I don't know what translation you are reading but a better translation is male prostitutes or effeminate by perversion.
